The Wellness Hub supports a mother's choice to breastfeed her baby while pursuing her graduate or professional degree.  There are currently two Lactation Centers at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Group Exercise Schedule

Fall 2011   

 

Learn how to be a Group Ex Instructor

 Join us to learn how to become a Group Exercise Instructor!  We're using curriculum developed by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) to prepare you for the ACE Group Exercise exam and give you basic knowledge that can help with other group exercise certifications as well.  This class will cover basic anatomy and physiology, class format & design and begins September 27th.  

 

Woman on Weights Lifting weights can help build a toned, sculpted, feminine body, and build stronger bones. This 6-week course is for you and begins September 26th.

Submissions to the Campus Life Weekly must pertain directly to the entire student body of UM.

  

Only events that are open to the entire student community, not just those in a particular school, will be printed.

  

Space is limited so submissions should be no more than 150 words.

  

Newsletters are published weekly on Thursday evenings during the Fall & Spring semesters. 

 

● As a result of the high volume of submissions, some entries will only run the week of the advertised event.

 

To submit an entry, please send email by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday prior to the publication date.

Leadership Opportunity

Maryland Higher Education CommissionThe Office of Student Development and Leadership is looking for an energetic, qualified student to represent the University's student body on the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Student Advisory Council.  

 

This Council, composed of student representatives from the various postsecondary educational institutions throughout the State of Maryland, advises one of the most important agencies in the State, i.e. the Maryland Higher Education Commission.  

 

For more specific information about the Council, please check-out the MHEC web site.  

 

With the kind of talent embodied by the graduate and professional students here at UMB, we must have a serious, strong voice on such an important Council, as well as an alternate representative.

The President's Outreach Council is seeking student, faculty, and staff to serve as volunteer mentors and presenters for CLUB UMD, an after-school youth leadership program offered in nearby local public schools.

  • Attend training on Tuesday, 9/20/11 or Wednesday, 9/28/11  from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the new SMC Campus Center, Meeting Room #351.

UM Caravan Service   

Veola CaravanThe UM Caravan Service will be modified for the 2011 - 2012 academic year as follows:

 

1) One vehicle will operate for seven (7) hours a day, five (5) days a week (Monday through Friday, 5:30 pm to 12 am, with the last call taken between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 pm..).

 

2) There will be NO week-end service.

 

No Caravan Service on the following designated days and observed holidays:

  • Friday, September 2nd - Campus Closed due to Grand Prix Race
  • Monday, September 5th - Labor Day Holiday
  • Thursday and Friday, November 24th and November 25th - Thanksgiving Holiday
  • Monday, December 26th through Monday, January 1st - Winter Break
  • Monday, January 16th - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday
  • Friday, April 6th - Good Friday
  • Monday, May 28th - Memorial Day Holiday

DiplomaAre you planning to graduate in December?  

If you haven't already filled out a Diploma Application, please remember to do so before the deadline of September 11th. To apply for your diploma, please logon to SURFS. Once you are logged on to SURFS, select Student Services & Financial Aid and then select Student Records. The Application for Diploma will be in the middle of the menu.
