Annual T-Shirt Design Contest

Submissions Must Come in Before: 9:00 pm EST
Co-Sponsored by the USGA & APhA-MRO
Students Promoting Awareness (SPA), will be hosting a battle of the bands concert to promote awareness about smoking cessation and asthma education. SPA is calling for T-shirt designs that best represent the spirit of RTSO. The winner will receive a free T-shirt as reward. Please email your design to spa.scodae@gmail.com.
The Rock the Smokeout Concert will be held: Friday, March 25, 2011 8:00 - 10:30 pm UMB Students: $3 (Free entrance with purchase of T-Shirt)Non-Students: $5
Prizes will be raffled!

Operation Heart, a division of the American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists, is dedicated to empowering people to prevent cardiovascular disease before it starts.
Please join us for a heart-healthy ice skating event! Raffle tickets available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.

This class is open to all students, faculty and staff.
New parents need education and support to make breastfeeding successful, according to the Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding. This nuts and bolts seminar will include the basic information that mothers need to prepare and implement successful breastfeeding, and that fathers, grandmothers, and friends need to support them. Actual users of the lactation centers at the University of Maryland Baltimore will share their helpful tips.
This class is preceded by the Dental School Lactation Center Grand Opening officiated by Dental Dean Stohler at 11:45 am. All are welcome.

All students are reminded that the priority deadline for the FAFSA is Tuesday (3/1), please complete your FAFSA now if you have not already done so. We also remind Maryland resident in the DDS, JD, MD, Nursing MS, PharmD or MSW programs to completed the Professional School Scholarship application by Monday (2/28) and they are required to have the FAFSA completed by Friday (2/25).

Breast cancer can occur at any age, and survivors across the lifespan have unique needs. This lecture will emphasize the growing number of breast cancer survivors and the diversity of their post-treatment requirements. These include the trajectory of recovery, the common symptoms and problems experienced, and the need for continued focus on health promotion and disease prevention.
About the Speaker
Patricia A. Ganz, MD, a medical oncologist, received her BA magna cum laude from Radcliffe College (Harvard University) in 1969 and her MD from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1973. Dr. Ganz is a pioneer in the assessment of quality of life in cancer patients and survivors, and is active in clinical trials research with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project.
