Student Financial Assistance and Education has scheduled 19 different Exit Counseling sessions between March 21 - April 22.  All Students who received Federal Student Loans while attending UMB are required to comple Exit Counseling.  No appointments are needed for these sessions that last approximately 45 minutes.   Mark your calendars now to make room for this very important Federal requirement.

Join President Jay Perman as he accepts the DC/Maryland Regional Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Recognition Award.   The Lactation Center at the UMB's SMC Campus Center has been recognized with the Gold Level (highest award).   
 
The award recognizes UMB for offering breastfeeding support, educaiton, time and space for new mothers to breastfeed and/or pump breastmilk in the workplace.

Join with other Maternal and Child Health Advocates to view a short film that explores environmental factors that impact pregnancy. We will discuss the movie afterward and evaluate how clear of a message it would potentially send to Baltimore's expecting mothers. We will also be discussing ideas for future meetings and events - your input is welcome! Leadership positions are available.

Housing is available for the 2011-2012 year at Fayette Square and Pascault Row Apartments.  Visit our website to look at floor plans and current rates (new rates will be available soon).  You can apply online with no application fee or security deposit required.  We are available for tours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at other times.  

 

Note for current residents of Pascault Row -- the renewal process will begin on February 18, 2011.  Please look for an email with process information and forms.  If you have questions, please contact the UMB Housing Office after February 14, 2011 at 410-706-5523 

 

Spring Diploma Application

Are you planning to graduate in May? 

 

The deadline to apply for a spring diploma passed on February 13th. Diploma Applications submitted after February 13th must be approved by your school/program before they can be processed.To apply for your diploma, please logon to SURFS by clicking here.  

 

Once you are logged on to SURFS, select Student Services and Financial Aid and the Student Records.  The application Application for Diploma will be in the middle of the menu. 

 

The Commencement ceremony will be held at the Baltimore Arena on May 20th.

Are you struggling with a personal problem? Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or worried about academics or graduation? Having concerns about interpersonal relationships or communication with others? You might benefit from joining the Student Support Group. This group will be facilitated by a psychologist from UMB Student Counseling Center. It consists of a small (approximately 8-10 group members), confidential group of UMB students that will be meeting once a week from February 23, 2011 to April 13, 2011. It is an opportunity to give and receive help to other students who are going through similar problems.  You are not alone!

If you are interested and would be available for all 8 group meetings, please contact Dr. Jenna Silverman for more information at UMB Student Counseling Center (328-8404) by Friday, February 18th.
