Tensions around public breastfeeding and "breast is best" promotion campaigns highlight society's perceived interest in regulating women's reproductive behavior, as well as the power of culture to assign sexual and moral meaning to mothers' bodies. Entertaining and insightful, the documentary Latching On is an important analysis of the politics of breastfeeding, illuminating the complexities behind a simple, natural act. Authentic Movement Workshop |

Saturday, November 20 SMC Campus Center, Rooms 349
Come experience Authentic Movement - a creative form of self-exploration. Check in with yourself as we wind down on a tough semester! Release, explore, reacquaint you with you.
Everyone is welcome - no prior experience is necessary.
Combining movement for self-expression with mindfulness, improvisation, and active imagination, Authentic Movement is a modality used to integrate creativity into relaxation and personal insight. This is a safe and welcoming environment. We'll work together to explore, so come prepared to move in easy fitting clothing (and bare feet). Feel free to bring a journal for processing thoughts, sensations, emotions, and impulses. Due to the quiet and personal nature of our work, we ask participants to arrive promptly. Questions? Email Susan Taylor at: Stay1008@umaryland.edu.
Future workshops are scheduled for: Saturday, December 4 and Saturday February 19, 2011.
This event is sponsored by Creativity in Caring : for Learning and Community and USGA. |
