Kevin Chen, PhD, MPH, is an associate professor in the Center for Integrative Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry at the UMB School of Medicine. Chen is a NIH funded investigator conducting clinical studies investigating the feasibility and efficacy of Chinese energy therapy for treating osteoarthritis and addiction. Chen is among the few scientists who have both first-hand knowledge of Qigong practice and active involvement in scientific research of Qigong in the United States.

Dr. Dubin is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the UMB School of Medicine. She will explore how negative stressors can be managed and positive stressors can be utilized as an impetus for change and added creativity in your life.

Course Overview
Join the Maternal and Child Health Scholars for a one-credit interdisciplinary course that is open to all students. The course focuses on interdisciplinary understanding and collaboration featuring academic and community stakeholders and a related community service project. The course introduces students to the disproportionate problem of infant mortality in the U.S., particularly in Baltimore.
Speakers from diverse professional backgrounds will cover pertinent areas such as root causes, interventions before birth and during the first year of life, and health disparities. Students will also have the opportunity to build expertise in this issue through a community service project.
