Our Newest Partner School
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center has chosen LCMS+ as the curriculum management solution for its six-college system. The Colleges to be supported are Allied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.
Cynthia Russell, PhD, RN and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Faculty Administration and Educational Technology, explains how LCMS+ earned this win:
"LCMS+ holds the promise of a deeply integrated solution to many of our needs which are currently met, where they can be met, by disparate systems that don't connect or share data very effectively. We look forward to the flexibility and richness of data that LCMS+ will bring to UTHSC as we implement this system within and across all six of our colleges."
As the flagship statewide academic health system, the mission of UTHSC is to bring the benefits of the health sciences to the achievement and maintenance of human health, with a focus on the citizens of Tennessee and the region, by pursuing an integrated program of education, research, clinical care, and public service. In 2011, UT Health Science Center celebrated its centennial: 100 years advancing the future of health care. Since its founding in 1911, UTHSC has educated and trained more than 53,000 health care professionals on campuses and in health care facilities across the state.
We are proud to partner with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and help them to fulfill their mission across the spectrum of healthcare education. We warmly welcome UTHSC to the family of LCMS+ schools!

Who Gets Access to What? You Choose
In your current system, have you ever needed to:
- Limit access to a menu option to just one group of users?
- Remove the "save" button on a screen if a user is below a certain security level?
- Hide fields with sensitive information based on membership in certain groups?
- Block access to an update screen if the user is a student?
- Only make content in a course available to one group of students?
With LCMS+, you get a highly flexible and granular security model based on a combination of user roles, group membership and security levels. These security elements can be combined to customize the user experience and access to menus and modules. They can also be used to tailor which fields in a screen are displayed to a user.
This sophisticated security model, along with a suite of tools to manage user roles, allows your local administrator to really customize and control access to your system. If you'd like more information on how LCMS+ can help you manage your institution's unique needs, please drop us a line.

What's Happening in MedEd
Link In with "e-Learning in Medical Education"
We've stumbled onto a new LinkedIn group called "eLearning in Undergraduate Medical Education" that looks like a good place for folks to talk about their MedEd EdTech needs, wants and habits. Started by Anne Marie Cunningham, Academic Lead for eLearning, School of Medicine at Cardiff University, it's primarily focused on UK schools but is open to all. It promises to provide another valuable point of contact for those of us working hard to improve the mechanisms behind academic medicine. Find the group on this LinkedIn page.

Medical students learn a whole lot of new things every day. It's no wonder some of them don't seem to stick.
Recently, Time.com highlighted the work of B. Price Kerfoot, an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School who has published several studies on the concept of "spaced repetition" and how it helps med students retain information more effectively and efficiently. You can read more about it here - and remember where you saw it!
