The Mission of the Church Matters
A Leadership Discussion
Beginning Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 6:30 pm.

Beginning Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary, Sr. Pastor David Payne will lead a 6-week class on the mission of the church.  Anyone interested in the ministry of First United Methodist Church is invited to come and participate in this study.

As we launch our "new beginnings" it is important that we are on the same page.  This class will enable us to discuss, learn, share dreams, and begin the work of defining the mission for our church.

While it is a "leadership class" it is intended for ANYONE interested in helping us define our future goals.  Registration is not necessary, simply attend the classes if you are able.

We also ask that you will continue to hold our church in prayer as we work toward hearing the leading of God for our congregation.
Wonderful Wednesday - Children's Ministry

Confirmation Classes to Start
For Students in at least 6th Grade

What do I really believe about God?  Am I going to heaven or hell?  Where did the Bible come from?  Why are there so many different churches?  These are important questions, and if you're looking for answers, consider signing up for confirmation class.

Confirmation offers a chance for youth in high school or middle school (you have to be in at least 6th grade) to look at what it means to be a Christian and a United Methodist.  It does involve a commitment:
  • Attending class once a week, either on Sunday morning or Wednesday evening.
  • Completing the weekly lesson and memory work.
  • Participating in occasional service projects and field trips.
At the end of the classes you will be able to join the church as full professing members if you choose.

Orientation sessions will be held on Sunday, August 29th at 9:30 am and on Wednesday, September 1st at 6 pm in the Confirmation Room upstairs in the Education Building.  Both youth and parent(s) must attend orientation before beginning confirmation classes.  We only offer these classes every other year, but I always look forward to them.  If you have questions, please contact Pastor Jet Throckmorton at [email protected] or (956) 245-0540.

Hope to see you there,
Jet
