monthly newsletter. This newsletter is another tool to inform and
educate Property Managers and HOA's on construction topics that we
hope are of interest.
ASR Construction has a strong presence in the
Home Owner Association community. We are
members of both Community Association Institute (CAI) and California
Association of Community Managers (CACM).
We believe in staying up on all the newest revelations in the HOA world
and actively pursue education that will further assist us in helping our

Understanding the New Lead Law
It's The Law!
Each Infraction is a $37,500 Fine!
As of April 2010, a federal law requires contractors that disturb lead-based paint in homes, schools, and child care facilities, built before 1978 to be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Ask to see your contractor's certification.
Don't put you or your association at risk, know the Law!
The Facts about Lead
- Lead can affect children's brains and developing nervous systems, causing reduced IQ, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Lead is also harmful to adults.
- Lead in dust is the most common way people are exposed to lead. People can also get lead in their bodies from lead in soil or paint chips. Lead dust is often invisible.
- Lead-based paint was used in more than 38 million homes until it was banned for residential use in 1978.
- Projects that disturb lead-based paint can create dust and endanger you, your family as well as all in your associations. Don't let this happen to you. Follow the practices described on the EPA website, to protect you and your association.
If your association was built before 1978, you need to have it tested for lead and asbestos!

Water Facts
Every person on this planet needs water to survive. We use water to shower, cook and there's nothing more refreshing than jumping into a pool on a hot summer afternoon, claims Kirk Prouse, CEO of ASR Construction. "But water can also cause damage in structures like sewage backups, mold and dry-rot which result in thousands of dollars to repair. But what do we really know about water? Below are 11 water facts that were collected by my water extraction and repair experts."
- The average American uses at least 80 gallons of water per day.
- 75% of the earth's surface is made up of water.
- 97% of the earth's water is in the oceans, 2% is frozen in glaciers, while only 1% is considered drinkable. This 1% supplies water to all the humans in the world
- 75% of the earth's available fresh water is frozen in the polor ice caps.
- Humans can live without food for over a month, but a person can not live without water for more than a week.
- Showers, bathroom faucets, toilets, and kitchen sinks use up to 5 gallons of water per minute.
- An average dishwasher uses about 25 gallons of water per cycle.
- An average washing machine uses about 30 gallons of water for every load of laundry.
- There are 3 basic catagories of water when it comes to water damage.
- It takes 2 gallons for the average American brush their teeth, 5 gallons to flush a toilet, and between 25 and 50 gallons to take a shower.
- If everyone in the United States used one less gallon of water per shower every day, we could save at least 85 billion gallons of water per year.
