Dear CALL Members,

In CALL's constitutional documents it mandates that we are to be a voice for our faith, our Latino community and our Church - both as an organization and as individual faithful Catholics.

On January 27 you received a newsletter which contained a very important article by Archbishop Jose Gomez, CALL's Episcopal Moderator. (If you missed that article, you can view it on our website at www.call-usa.org.) In that article Archbishop Gomez declares that this is a time for Catholic action and Catholic voices.

Over one hundred bishops have already spoken out on this issue. It is now time for CALL's voice to be heard in support of our bishops and our Church. We must all respond.

We are asking all CALL members to take about five minutes of their time and do two important things.

First

Go to the website for the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (click hyperlink below):

Click on the button on the right that says "Send email to Congress." The website will walk you through the quick steps needed to send an email to your particular members of the House and Senate. You can simply use the pre-inserted wording, but you also have the option to add your own words if you wish (but not necessary). The system will route it to the correct legislators automatically, so it is very easy process.

Second

Go to the White House online petition website (click hyperlink below):

Scroll down to the blue button that says "Create an Account" and click on it. This is a very simple and short process (surprisingly). You will note that the screen will give you a count of how many people have signed this petition online. Throughout today it has been increasing at the rate of about 160 signatures per hour!

Simply complete the four prompts to create an account. The system will then send you an email. Click on the link provided in that email and it will return you to the petition page.  Then simply click on the "Sign the Petition" button and that's it!

Both of these actions are very important. CALL's voice must be heard on this issue, and we are asking each and every member to take just a few moments from their busy day to take these two actions. And on what better an occasion:  THE FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD IN THE TEMPLE, FORTY DAYS AFTER HIS BIRTH!
