The Crucifixion

The Paschal Triduum

While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples.

"Take and eat it," he said; "this is my body."

                                   - Matthew 26:26

Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them,

"Sit here while I go over there and pray."

                             - Matthew 26:36

Standing close to Jesus' cross were his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Jesus saw his mother and the disciple that he loved standing there. So he said to his mother,

"He is your son." Then he said to the disciple, "She is your mother."

                      - John 19:25-26

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is not here -- he has been raised."

                      - Luke 16:6

Tomorrow begins the Paschal Triduum, that amazing period of time from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday. It is our most important opportunity of the year to renew our faith and refresh our soul.

Let us come together as God's creation -- the family of CALL -- to reflect on our individual journey of faith. Let us pray to enhance our personal prayer life, and to remember our loved ones who are in need of physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual healing.

As we recall the passion and suffering of our Lord and Savior, we will celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Let us also remember to pray for this ministry, CALL, as a growing national movement within our beloved Catholic Church.

May our journey of faith lead us to everlasting life. Amen!
