Our Lady of Guadalupe - Pray for us!

CALL website logo_bluesWe issue this newsletter on the feast of our Patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe, who appeared to the humble St. Juan Diego in 1531 - 479 years ago. And despite the years, her message of Christian unity resonates with us as much today as ever.

Let us all take a moment today to say a prayer to Our Lady asking for her intercession with her Blessed Son to grant us the strength and commitment to be faithful members of our Church.

Pallium Mass - St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City
On June 29, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, will bestow the pallium on Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, and Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller of San Antonio.

The appointment of these two prelates is an important event for the United States for the message and meaning that it holds.
Archbishop Garcia-Siller

When a delegation of 25 CALL members traveled to Rome in April of this year, it was to specifically discuss how Episcopal appointments must be reflective of the Church in the US. This event comes to the very heart of CALL's message and, as such, it is important that we demonstrate to the Holy Father the support and appreciation that we offer to him for these important appointments.

In the coming weeks we will be providing more information on this important event in hopes that we can have a strong showing of support for these two important archbishops and for Pope Benedict XVI.
