Kay Ivey successfully sought the office of Lieutenant Governor in the 2010 election. In doing so, she became the second woman and the first Republican woman in Alabama history, to be elected to the post of Lieutenant Governor.
A Camden, Alabama native and a 1967 graduate of Auburn University, Kay Ivey has had a career in the private sector as well as a career in public service for nearly 43 years.
In 2002, Kay became the first Republican elected State Treasurer since Reconstruction and was re-elected in 2006.
As Treasurer, Kay Ivey proved her commitment to taxpayers. The Treasurer's Office is now more open, transparent, and efficient. As a result, Kay Ivey saved the taxpayer nearly 5 million dollars in administrative costs.
On February 4, 2011, Lieutenant Governor Ivey was appointed as Chairman of Governor Robert Bentley's newly-created Alabama Commission on Improving State Government. She also serves as Chairman of the Job Creation and Military Stability Commission as well as Vice Chairman of the Aerospace States Association.
She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, the Montgomery Rotary Club, the Board of Directors of the Montgomery YMCA, and the Tukabatchee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Lt. Governor Kay Ivey is also honored to be the first Alabama Girls State alumnus elected to an Alabama Constitutional Office.

| LETTER FROM PRESIDENT VICKI BAILEY |

Dear :
What an exciting weekend at the NFRW Biennial Convention in Kansas City, Missouri! Greater Birmingham members attending were Sallie Bryant, Phyllis Davis, Rhonda Hethcox and Vicki Bailey. Speakers were Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona, presidential candidates Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Rance Piebus, RNC Chair, discussed the 2012 elections.
I love talking with Republican Women from across the country and hearing what they are doing in their respective clubs to grow membership and inform their members on policy issues. There is nothing like it to get energized and excited about the future of the Republican Party and the 2012 elections. I urge all of you to attend the AFRW convention in Huntsville October 29-30. Let's get energized! We must win big in 2012!

Football season in Alabama! What a fun and busy time of year. Because of my out of control schedule I have not yet planned a "Food for Thought" get together for October. Any suggestions? Last month was dinner, this month will be lunch. I will let you know when we decide on date, time, and place. |
News from NFRW Convention
by: Rhonda Hethcox
What an extraordinary experience to be in a place where so many people share a love for their country. Attending a National Federation of Women Convention for the first time I was not sure what to expect. As I gazed on the faces of Republican Women from different states I was overwhelmed with a sense of pride when I began to think of the years of service Republican Women have given to the GOP. I was also struck by the thought of how much work has to be done with local clubs to reach out and recruit younger members. As I talked to other women from across our great nation I realized we all have the same worries and concerns and the same determination to continue to work hard to return America to the nation we once were.
Herman Cain galvanized and electrified the crowd with his speech, Governor Jan Brewer made us proud as she talked about her continuing fight with the Federal Government to fight for the citizens of Arizona, Rick Santorum reminded us of the hard work this nation has ahead of us, and Newt Gingrich was eloquent as he laid out his plan for America. It was a wonderful experience that I wish all Republican Women could have. Seeing the faces of women who have worked in the Party for years and years has given me a renewed vigor to fight for Republican beliefs and principles.
