| LETTER FROM PRESIDENT VICKI BAILEY |
Dear :
2011 is going to be a very interesting year politically. We have a new Jefferson County Commission in place, new Republican judges on the bench in Jefferson County, a Republican legislature in Montgomery and a Republican House in Washington, DC. So many opportunities lie ahead for us.
One of the most encouraging speeches was given by newly sworn in Speaker of the House, John Boehner. In his speech he said, "This is the people's House. This is their Congress. It's about them, not us. What they want is a government that is honest, accountable, and responsive to their needs."
We have demanded this from our elected officials for years. After firing many of them in November's election, some are actually listening. Now is the time to make sure they do. We must stay informed and let our elected officials know how we feel. We must hold their feet to the fire. If one is elected as a Republican one must act like a Republican. After all, the collective voice of the people demanded a change in the direction of our government two months ago and it can happen again in 2012.

Make Your Voice Heard
by: Rhonda Hethcox, Membership
There is a party going on and you are invited! The party is the Republican Party and you are a part of it by being a member of Greater Birmingham Republican Women. Being a member proves you are here to provide leadership, to promote conservative values, and to help build club membership.
In order for GBRW to grow our grassroots efforts everyone must work harder to recruit new members to make sure the GOP gains victory at every level. There is more hard work ahead for the GOP. I believe when work needs to be done within the party it is the Republican Women who get it done. Make every effort to spread the word about GBRW, invite friends to a meeting, and get more involved.
The future of the county, state, and nation rests in our hands. To continue to move forward all of us have to help and even more help is needed. Just because we won elections in November does not mean we can slow down. Let's get involved and get the work done.
