A word from our sponsor:
Shred It and Regret It...
DO NOT destroy those documents. My coach often told us, "The best offense is a good defense!" It seems kind of strange to think that this saying can be applied to adult residential care communities. However, it is one of the most important things an adult residential care home/facility can do to stay out of a court room. Claims can have a completely different result, if there is good documentation regarding the resident. We have seen a claim that could possibly have settled for less than $250,000, turn into a claim payout of in excess of $750,000 - as a result of documentation being destroyed.
Do not under estimate the value of good documentation and record keeping, or undervalue the retention of these records.
