With friends like Attorney General Zoeller, who needs enemies?
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller has just announced that he will not defend portions of Senate Enrolled Act 590! Here is his press release.
We need your immediate action to protect and defend
SEA 590! We worked too hard to get it passed to let the AG lose the case in the courts!
As Attorney General, Zoeller is required to defend SEA590. Unfortunately, he has aligned himself with the enemies of state immigration enforcement legislation and has worked against this bill from day one! It has reached the point where it's almost impossible to tell the difference between the Attorney General's office and our opponents! The last line of the AG's 7/31/12 news release reads, "Former State Representative Mike Murphy, now with the Alliance for Immigration Reform in Indiana, is available for comment today on this legal brief at 317.414.0964."
Murphy and AIRI were behind the Indiana Compact
which sought to derail passage of SEA590 because they prefer a federal solution (which essentially means non-enforcement). Zoeller is near the top of the list of Featured Indiana Compact Signatories, along with other powerful, influential people who have fought state immigration enforcement laws for years. How can Zoeller claim to be representing the interests of We the People when he so firmly aligns himself with these forces? This seems like a conflict of interest, doesn't it?
If we don't speak up now, there is no one left to defend us!
This is something to remember in November because Zoeller is up for reelection.
