Welcome to the June 2011 edition of our monthly email news and information source for Wheatland Presbyterian Church. Through this newsletter we hope to provide you with the information that you need to keep you informed and engaged in life here at Wheatland.
Our prayer is that you will find Wheatland to be a place where we proclaim Christ and his gospel to each other and our community through our worship and our work.

From Slavery to Freedom Join us for corporate worship on Sunday mornings at 8am or 10:45am as we journey together through the story of God and His people as told in the book of Exodus.
Our 15th Anniversary
Wheatland Presbyterian Church began in the fall of 1995 as daughter church of Westminster Presbyterian Church. We became a particular church on June 2nd, 1996. In honor of our 15th anniversary, Dr. Michael Rogers, Senior Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church, will be preaching at both of our services on Sunday, June 5th, 2011. We have invited past pastors & staff to join us. Come to a reception between the services and enjoy food and fellowship. There will be NO Sunday Classes that morning.
Congratulations to our 2011 Graduates
We have nine 2011 high school grads and four 2011 college grads. We extend our congratulations to each one and to their families. For information on each one and what their future plans include, please pick up a copy of the printed "This Month at Wheatland" newsletter located in the wall rack of the Church Lobby.

Regional Care Groups
Our Care Groups are designed to enfold you into the life of Wheatland and the community in which you live. We have divided our city and the outlying areas into regional districts. There are groups that meet in each "field". Our worship together each Sunday morning is the most important thing we do, but if you are a regular attendee or member here at Wheatland, these gatherings enrich and enliven our worship together by strengthening our love and care for one another. Check the church website to find out who your Care Group Leader is and when your group meets. Questions? Email Assoc. Pastor Luke Le Duc. Two Sunday Classes for Adults through July 10th
NOTE: These classes are not meeting on June 5th (our 15th anniversary reception) or on June 26th (our annual congregation meeting).
Getting to the Heart of Parenting-Parenting is more than using your power to get children to behave in certain ways. Parenting is about the exposure and change of the child's heart. When the heart of a child changes, the behavioral change that is needed will last. Learn how to be an instrument of heart-changing grace in the little moments of life that God will give you with your children, whether they are toddlers or teens. We will watch a 25 minute video presentation by Paul Tripp and then discuss the material. This class meets in the Sanctuary and is led by Luke Le Duc with discussions facilitated by various parents in our congregation.
The Gospel of Mark-The Gospel of Mark may be the earliest record of Jesus life and ministry. Mark is in Rome and writing for a church which the Roman emperor is persecuting. Paul has been martyred and Peter too; the infant church is like a ship tossed on the waves of an uncontrollable storm as it had been during Jesus'ministry (Mark 4). Will it survive? Where will it find strength? This Gospel provides the answers to these questions-and not only for the early church-for the church today as well. This class meets in the Living Room of the Study Center and is led by Matt Clark and Keith Winder.
Summer Fellowship for College Students
College Students: Are you home for the summer and looking for people to hang out with? Do you miss the fellowship of your friends on campus and want to make some new friends? Then join us for Summer RUF. We meet June 2, 16, 30, July 14, 28, and August 11 at 6:30pm at Rob and Jenny Ilderton's home (1211 Elm Ave.) for fun, fellowship, and a brief topical discussion. Call or email Rob for more info (279.1815 or rilderton@ruf.org).
Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism will be a part of our worship services on Sunday, June 19th. If you are a Member of Wheatland Presbyterian Church and would like to have a member of your family baptized, please notify the office (392.5909 or info@wheatlandpca.org). |

Food Bank To meet the community's food needs, the Deaconate collects food on the 2nd Sunday of each month for our congregation, for Water Street Rescue Mission, and for the Landisville Food Bank. Bring in non-perishable household or food items and place them in the Lobby. Needed items are canned meat, one-can meals, vegetables, shampoo, hand soap, toilet paper, and laundry detergent.
Making Room for Our Guests If you regularly come to the 2nd service, you probably notice that our Sanctuary is pretty full. To make room for our guests, you might consider a switch to the early service. And if you do come to the 2nd service, please consider parking in the overflow lot if you are able (1059 Columbia Ave.; turn in by the Dr. Scott Creisher & Associates sign), so that there are plenty of parking spaces for our guests. Thank you for serving in these ways!
Wheatland Arts and Music Camp Serious Art. Serious Music. Serious Fun. Have fun developing real skills in art and music at the Wheatland Arts and Music Camp, July 11th-15th. Open to students ages 7-12, the camp will meet from 9am-Noon each day that week with a special exhibition and concert showcasing the students' work on the evening of July 15th. The cost for the week is $50 per student to help defray the cost of supplies. The camp will total 50 students with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. The art portion of the camp is under the direction of kids' book illustrator Ned Bustard. The music portion of the camp is under the direction of Dr. Robert Bigley (DMA), Program Coordinator of Music and Theater Performance at Lancaster Bible College. Register by sending payment ($50 check made payable to "Wheatland Presbyterian Church") to the church office along with your students' names and ages. This is a great opportunity to invite the children of your friends and neighbors. For more information, visit www.WheatlandPCA.org/Camp. |

Missionary of the Month
Stephen and Rebecca Slesser serve in the Camden area of London with World Harvest Mission.
1. Praise God for their joint Palm Sunday service with other Camden churches. They met in a park, prayed together, and walked up Camden Street led by a donkey singing hymns and waving palm leaves, ending up at St. Michael's Church of England for a brief service.
2. Praise God for their Easter Sunday service with four Camden churches (with an Easter egg hunt for children before the service). A leader from each church spoke about Jesus' resurrection according to each gospel.
3. Praise God that Stephen has had a few open mic nights and an unofficial gig which has led to new friendships and possibilities for employment.
4. The darkness and loneliness can be overwhelming at times as so many people in the area are into new age, pagan worship, etc. Pray for their witness to "L" who is heavily into Paganism.

| Sunday at the Park | |
Sunday at the Park is an informal gathering announced at different times throughout the year. It is an opportunity, always weather permitting, to gather with your church family after Sunday Worship to enjoy a picnic lunch (or picked-up lunch!) at Buchanan Park (just a half mile from the church). Any and all are invited. Bring your own lunch and a blanket or chairs to sit on. There is a playground, as well as plenty of space to throw a football, baseball, or frisbee. Get to know other Wheatlanders while enjoying the beauty of creation in our backyard. Be a presence in our community while modeling biblical community. Our next Sunday at the Park is scheduled for Sunday, June 12th. Meet at the playground area. Invite someone to join you. We hope to see you there! | |

Growing at Wheatland
| |
Our life together here at Wheatland is intended to grow us all up into maturity in faith and life. One of the ways we believe this happens is through intentional discipleship with one another. Are you intentionally pursuing growth in grace in this community that God has placed you? If you are interested in coming together with 2 or 3 other people for this type of focused study, contact
