SALAYEL INAUGURAL EVENT

In 2011, Salayel horses will be seen in the show ring worldwide, but the endeavor is not confined to just breeding and showing. There is also a fully active Endurance Team, which is gaining momentum in the highly competitive endurance field in the Middle East.
Salayel's inaugural event was held January 31, 2011, at the Saudi Arabian facility in Al-Khobar. Approximately 100 people enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Team Salayel, and learned of the upcoming plans for this state-of-the-art facility. To learn more, click here.
Who is Salayel? Salayel is a privately-owned straight Egyptian farm, with facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the United States. Salayel's founder has a clear vision of where he wants to position the organization for the future, and how to get there. Salayel was established with the express mission of creating a first class straight Egyptian breeding program, and encouraging a love and understanding of these special horses.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Dick and Diane Malone, Twin Fiddles Ranch
 |
TFR BlackFyre, TFR Aliah, TFR Katyahna and TFR Marah Bint Moniet |
Twin Fiddles Ranch is located in Alvarado, Texas, on 40 secluded acres of coastal grass and sandy soil with pecan trees and a slowly meandering creek, but most importantly, it is home to some truly magnificent Straight Egyptian Arabians. Diane and Dick Malone have always loved horses, and as quickly as they met the Egyptian Arabian some 20 years ago, they were hooked.
 | TFR Mona El Soheir |
'Keep it pure, keep it classic,' is their breeding philosophy, and it has been carefully expressed. "We mainly concentrate on the rare tail female line of Bint El Bahreyn through Zareefa, the dam of Maisa by Shahloul and Elwya by Sid Abouhom," says Diane. "We are pleased with the cross between our stallion Masree KA (Ansata Hejazi X KA Namirah X Nabiel) and our mare Moniet El Soheir (MB Mistaz X Bint Bint Soheir X *Ibn Moniet El Nefous); they have produced two beautiful fillies that are part of our Elwya line, TFR Aliah and TFR Mona El Soheir." Their third foal on the way this May. Click here to read more about these long-time Pyramid Society members or visit their website at www.TwinFiddles.com. |
UPCOMING CLINICS & SEMINARS
The "Let's Get Started" Clinic with Alice Smith and Lisa Abraham
 | photo by Lisa Abraham |
On March 19 & 20, 2011, Alice Smith and Lisa Abraham will hold the "Let's Get Started" clinic, hosted by Pegasus Farms in Folsum, La. This clinic will focus on the basics of three interests. Day One will be solely devoted to preparing your horse to go under saddle. It will cover the steps between teaching your horse to accept a bit, up to actually "hoppin' on." Alice's "back to the basics," step-by-step approach will make this topic easily understandable to all. The morning of Day Two will be an introduction to the sport of endurance - covering both the equipment necessary and fundamentals of the sport. The afternoon will then be spent learning professional grooming. To read more about this clinic, click here.

COMPLIMENTARY SEMINAR
at the Arabian Breeders World Cup in Las Vegas In addition to having a booth at the Arabian Breeders World Cup in Las Vegas in April, The Pyramid Society is also hosting a complimentary seminar:
"Nazeer - The Eternally Noble One" Presented by Joe Ferriss
Many strive to own, breed or enjoy a fine example of an Arabian horse, the most breathtaking qualities of which make the Arabian a coveted equine globally. Yet these qualities are dependent on great progenitors to pass them on. The breed's history is connected by periodic great sires some of which have created an enduring influence lasting many generations as well as establishing important sire lines. The legendary white Arabian stallion Nazeer now emerges as the next dominant sire line in Arabian breeding worldwide. There is scarcely an Arabian found at today's international shows and major stud farms who does not benefit from at least one line to this legend of legends. Through images and tales, Joe Ferriss explores Nazeer's story, his place in the breed and his ascent to the head of the patriarchy. It is a gathering you won't want to miss.

Cariswood Arabians Has High Hopes for Next EBC Foal
Keri and Carolee Wright of Cariswood Arabians are pleased to announce that they are expecting a September 2011 delivery of their next EBC foal via embryo transfer by Ansata Qasim and out of EAI Yasafeena. Early last year, they lost the mare they had intended for this EBC breeding and were concerned as to whether they would be able to find another mare with similar bloodlines. Keri explained, "Having been a fan of Qasim since his arrival back here in the States, and having seen foals of such quality from mares within this bloodline, we were excited to have our mare bred to him, but when she suddenly passed away we were devastated. We discussed what we were looking for with Judi Forbis and Lisa Zukowski. Zeke & Lisa were then kind enough to make Yasafeena available to us on a lease basis and we're thankful for all involved in making the ET a reality. We've got a lot of high hopes for this foal." Truly it will be a "September to Remember." For more information, you can visit the Cariswood Arabians website at www.cariswood.com. |

JRs Nabiel Shaikh's Ancestors Featured in Bahraini Book
From Jennifer Hurt: "A friend of mine gave me a book that was given out at the Kingdom of Bahrain's tent at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Bahrain was the only country to host its own tent at the Games, reflecting the deep interest of its ruler, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, in equine endurance competition. The book, "The Legend: The Story of an Arabian Bahraini Bay Mare: An influence in USA" by Mahmood A. Ahmed Hasan, is a handsomely illustrated book on Arabian horses and features the story of Bint El Bahreyn. Read more here.
JRs Nabiel Shaikh, straight Egyptian Shaikh Al Badi 2 year old granddaughter's female tail strain goes to Bint El Bahreyn thru *Soheir II (although she contains this strain thru her grandsire's female tail as well). According to Jennifer, JRs Nabiel Shaikh contains everything that Bint El Bahreyn was known as - "a substancial mare, excellent conformation, tremendous rear-end and a 'flying machine' and a beautiful, unmistakenly 'Arabian'."
