Thank you to our Partners.

The Partnership Grant Celebration earlier this month culminated a season of planning, fundraising and meeting with volunteers and nonprofit organizations throughout  our region. We are proud of the efforts of the  Program committee, volunteer grant selection committee and proud to be associated with the work and programs of these outstanding charitable organizations. Thank you to Tracy Turner for coordinating and managing, the only discretionary grant program of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.

The Partnership Grant program is supported by our fundholders through gifts from the earnings of their donor advised funds and by generous gifts from our Board members. Thank you for believing in the power of partnership and collaboration.

The result is a partnership of giving and serving that works for our region. I am inspired and humbled by just how much well-run Nevadan charities can do with a modest grant.

Hats off to our Partnership Grant selection committee for reaching out to charitable organizations that serve the rural populations of Nevada. Grants are helping programs serve people from White Pine County to Tahoe.

Partnership Grants Given at Celebration on June 9th.

20 charitable organizations working in northern Nevada were presented with $5,000 grants at a celebration highlighting the partnership between donors of the Foundation working together to fund special Partnership Grants to the nonprofit community.

2011 Partnership Grants were awarded to help the underinsured and uninsured receive emergency prescription help through CARE Chest of the Sierra Nevada, provide dental care to the homeless through HAWC Community Health Centers and to Kids to Seniors Korner to purchase bus passes for doctor visits and co-payments for needed medication.

Reaching outside the Reno-Sparks area, grants went to the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative to match training and travel expenses for the Duckwater Tribe green house project, to The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe for a summer Language Learning and Culture program for K-6 students focusing on Paiute language and culture, and to agencies working in Storey, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing and White Pine Counties.

Board members and executives from each winning organization attended a party at Bartley Ranch to mingle with the Foundation board and fundholders who donated to the Partnership Grant program in 2011.

Nonprofit representatives from several Fallon organizations and Nixon made the trip to attend.

More northern Nevada nonprofit organizations are listed every week.

We extend the invitation to participate to all area nonprofit organizations. Those that are included on the grid are those who have sent in their link.
You can help the nonprofit closest to your heart by encouraging them to mark their place on the connections grid.

(If you would like your nonprofit included on our Connections grid, email Tracy Turner
to learn how.)
