Our Pastors
All Saints begins its ninth year in operation led by the Board of Pastors representing our six supporting parishes. This school year, Father Brian Flanagan, pastor of St. Patrick's, passes the responsibilities as Pastor Moderator on to Fr. Don Finney, pastor of St. Peter's. The community of All Saints thanks our six pastors for their leadership.

Chapel Dream Becomes a Reality
The children, parents, faculty and staff will soon be able to visit the in-school Chapel and pray before the Eucharist. Through numerous donations of time, talent and treasure we are ready to have our Chapel blessed and permission given by Bishop Barbarito to house the Eucharist in the tabernacle.
Our community thanks Mrs. Betty Scherger who made the beautiful drapes and to Mr. Jim Wallace who created and built the altar, ambo and tabernacle table. Their talents are blessings to our community. In addition, thank you goes out to St. Paul of the Cross for financial assistance, St. Peter's for the donation of altar cloth, linens, chalice, and paten, St. Patrick's for the altar stone and St. Jude's for the tabernacle and monstrance.

Eighth Grade Retreat
This is a retreat: A time for God, a time for assessing our relationship with God. We spend time with the people we cherish and respect. We spend time with God. A retreat nurtures our spiritual life in an environment away from the ordinary distractions of life. In the Scriptures, we read that Jesus would simply go off and pray. Each and every one of us needs time to be alone, and a retreat provides us with this opportunity. All Saints Middle School students need these times too, especially our eighth grade students. They need to pause and discern where they are; where they are going; where they want to be and how they will get there. The beginning of the year eighth grade retreat provides these possibilities for them.
This year, the eighth grade class gathered on campus and utilized our new Chapel to refocus on what is important in their life...God. Middle School Religion teacher, Ms. Lehman, and the help of the youth ministers from our supporting parishes, put together a spiritual experience for these students during their retreat. Students discussed what it meant to put God at the center of our lives, how we live our lives for God, how to forgive and be forgiven, and how to get back up when we fall. Eighth grade students began their retreat by leading the celebration Liturgy for the school and ended in receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please continue to pray for our eighth grade class as they journey into their spirituality throughout the year.
~Ms. Lehman, Middle School Religion Teacher

Guidance News
Dear Parents:

Please plan on attending this workshop if you are interested in volunteering at our school and have never received this information. The workshop is approximately 90 minutes in length and is not intended for young children. Please plan on attending this workshop if you are interested in volunteering at our school (including carpooling from the school for sporting events). For more information please contact Lydia Pomerantz.
According to research released by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University, teen substance abuse in our country continues to be a huge public health concern. In most cases, addiction is a problem that originates in adolescence.
Here are some staggering statistics: Almost one half of all American high school students smoke, drink or use other drugs. 75 % of all American high school students have used addictive substances such as tobacco, alcohol, marijuana or cocaine. Alcohol is the preferred addictive substance among high school students.
One in four Americans who began using any addictive substance before the age of 18 became addicted, versus 1 in 25 who started using at age 21 or older.
Early intervention is crucial to prevent substance abuse and its consequences.
CASA's research has found that the evening family meal is the primary deterrent to teen substance experimentation and future addiction. CASA challenges all parents to have dinner with your family every day. This year, Family Day is celebrated September 26th.
Let's protect our children. Teen substance abuse is preventable.

Elective Spotlight
Girls Lacrosse
Beginning Lacrosse for Girls is offered first quarter by Coach Babington. Girls' lacrosse for beginners introduces the students to this graceful sport. Unlike boys lacrosse, there is no body checking and no padded equipment. We start by familiarizing ourselves with the stick and learning how to cradle, scoop, catch and throw. Once the basics are mastered, we move on to playing mini-games. Along the way, we learn the history and field positioning. The goal is to give the girls the knowledge and confidence to play in a league.
