CALLING VOLUNTEERS

The kids are headed back to school and tutors are needed at Bonjour Elementary School. Bonjour Principal Alejandro Schlagel tells us that last year the outstanding work of the volunteers from Lenexa UMC helped his students do well on assessments...and they are excited to have us back! Can you share your time with one of their children? Sign up outside the Sanctuary or contact Bernie McNichols: 913-764-4033.

Transformed Living

By now, you should have received an introductory and "kick-off" mailing about Transformed Living. You will also receive weekly emails (Monday mornings) for several weeks throughout the campaign to keep us motivated and united as a group as we focus on this all-church study and sermon series. The sermon series begins soon.

As part of this, we'll read Ed Mathison's book, "Treasures of the Transformed Life" (available for sale outside the Sanctuary Sundays for $10, or in the office during the week). Many of the Sunday School classes will study this together (Sept. 12 - Oct. 17) and a Tuesday group will be offered from 9:30 - 10:30am (Sept. 7 - Oct. 12).

Watch your mailboxes and emails for more information!!

We've missed you if you
haven't been to church lately. Travel plans, out-of-town company, summer sports,
and more keep us from church from time to time in the
summer. Remember that the 9 and 10:30am worship services
are on our website for you to listen to any time!

For Sunday, August 15, the sermon focus is on Hebrews
11:29-12:2 and is titled, "Put Your Head in the Cloud".
Worship in the Park ends for the season August 22...
and August 29 is "Fresh Start Sunday"...don't miss out!
Are You Ready to
Ring in the Fall?
The Celebration Bells begin rehearsing on Wed., Sept. 15, from 5:45 - 6:30pm in the Music Room. If you are between the ages of 5-18 and want to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, consider joining this choir! The group will perform about every 5-6 weeks early during the 10:30 worship service throughout the school year (allows youth to return to Sunday School after we play) and as other opportunities arise. Contact Erin Bryan with questions: erin.elizabeth.bryan@gmail.com.
