The weather is hot. The stores are filled with watermelons, fresh corn on the cob, and bottled drinks in any flavor you're looking for. It's too hot to cut the grass and the swimming pools are filled with (happily) screaming children. Yep - it's officially summer!

Enjoy an early morning worship at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park...worship begins at 8am, before it gets hot...bring a lawn chair, dress comfortably, and come ready to sing!!

Sunday, June 27
Pastor Peggy is preaching at 8 and 10:30. The Scriptures are 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14 and Luke 9:57-62 and the title of her message is, "Go Forward".  Alan Mason will provide special music at 10:30 with his bass violin, when we are also celebrating the baptism of Alicia Brandau.

Jesi Lipp is giving the message at 9am. The Scriptures are Luke 10:25-37 and James 1:19-27 and the title of her sermon is "Would You Stop?"

Please be sure you have a nametag to wear on Sundays. If you don't let the office know by signing the sheet outside the Sanctuary. Our new pastors, Marilyn and Jack Gregory, will be here July 4 and nametags will really help them learn who we are!!

See you Sunday!

The July Messenger is ready to be picked up at church...or you can read it online at:
PEANUTS Workcamp 2010

The PEANUTS (9th-12th graders and sponsors) are headed to Memphis, Tennessee, July 11-17, to assist with Jacob's Ladder, a Community Development Corporation working to rebuild the "belt line" of the city. Prayers are appreciate! We are also recruiting sponsors for each of the PEANUTS Workcampers...if you are interested, take a peak at the bulletin board located outside of Schneeberger Hall.

There is information about each of the Workcampers, including their names and what they have pledged to bring to Workcamp this year. A white informational card for each is displayed on that bulletin board. On the back of each card are suggestions for sponsorship. Choose a Workcamper to sponsor by taking the card of that person and signing up on the list on the left of the bulletin board. You'll know when a Workcamper has been sponsored because you'll see an orange copy where their information sheet had been.

July 3...All you can eat Pancakes will be served from
 7 - 9:30am. Cost: $6/Adults and $4/Kids.

Stay for the Parade. It begins at 10am. If you'd like to be part of the Lawn Chair Drill Team or walk in it as part of Lenexa UMC, contact Linda Stoker: 913-888-5600 or linda.stoker@lenexaumc.org.

Remember, there will be church at 8 and 9am on July 4, but no worship service at 10:30 that day.

Prayer Shawls Needed for Hospice

We've been contacted by a local Hospice that would appreciate donations of prayer shawls on an on-going basis. Patients and family members all appreciate these shawls and the special "hug" they provide. Patterns are available at church; you can find many for free online as well. We have some yarn available if you need some. Please pray for the recipient as you create the shawl; Pastor Peggy will bless them before they are given away. Shawls are being collected in a basket outside the Church Office in the Missions Nook. There are tags laying there; Hospice asks us to attach these and for the creator of the shawl to write his/her first name on the tag. Contact Suzette or Linda Stoker with questions -
