AVIATION HISORY II- His Excellency Idi Amin, President of Uganda
Iran Photos

From flight test engineer for Boeing to signing a contract to start an airline for the government of Uganda...John McEvoy will share more of his aviation history and bring to life the years when Field Marshal Idi Amin ruled Uganda beginning in early 1976.  Re-live with John the arrival in Uganda of a Air France Airbus A300 with 257 passengers and crew who had been hijacked by the PLO.  John's story of living and operating an airline during this very turbulent period in Uganda continued until March of 1979 when Idi Amin was overthrown.  In 1974 John signed a contract to set up an air cargo operation for Iran Air, under the rule of the Shah of Iran as well as a contract with the Shah's sister for a domestic air service.  Hear both historic times in the world's history from someone who was there and lived to tell about it.
