Rec'n Rah!
Community Kudos
Phyllis Ann Moore Longtime Highline School District teacher Phyllis Ann Moore recently passed away. Phyllis lead a full life, with passion for travel, learning, new ideas, education and art. Phyllis also had a love for hospitality and was well known for her passion for teaching children how to read. She was a teacher at Maywood Elementary School from the day it opened until its closing. In her 35 year teaching career, she made indelible contributions to many children in Des Moines by investing her time to give them a better future. Phyllis's passion for making an impact and 'paying it forward' extended far beyond the classroom. She was involved in her church and made connections with both teens and adults to make a positive impact in their lives and our community. Upon passing, Phyllis made one last and lasting investment in the future of Youth in Des Moines by providing a significant endowment to the Des Moines Legacy Foundation specifically to benefit children in our community. This generous gesture will allow hundreds of children in our community. Kudos Phyllis your generosity will impact the youth of Des Moines into the future, thank you.
