Rec 'n Rah!
Community Kudos Des Moines Parks, Recreation & Senior Services provides recreation experiences in the Waterland City. To pull it off, we get to work with civic minded groups and people who provide citizens with the quality of life that they deserve. In Rec 'n Rah, we give thanks to the groups and people that make the Waterland a wonderful community. This month's Rec 'n Rah is for the Des Moines Legacy Foundation. The Foundation has diligently fund raised for programs and enrichment in Des Moines with events like the annual Sports Night Auctionon May 15th and the Bayside Brunch. The Legacy Foundation has also provided $10,000 to fund a new downtown mural, coordinated by the Des Moines Arts Commission. The muralwill honor the aging process, while noting the history and diversity of Des Moines. Muralist Chandelle Anderson will be painting over the spring and summer months on the southern wall of the Des Moines QFC shopping complex at 21823 Marine View Drive - stop by to say hello! Kudos are also in order for the building owner for leasing the site to the city at a very reasonable price - $1. Thanks for leaving the community a better more beautiful place, Des Moines Legacy Foundation. If you wish to contribute to our community through the Legacy Foundation click here. |

Final Reminder
Pre-Sale for Crumac tickets ends 4/19 The final concert in this year's Waterland Music Series features traditional Irish music by Crumac. The series is produced by the Des Moines Arts Commission and the Highline Community College Music Department. The venue provides a cozy setting to enjoy music with lively acoustics and ample free parking. Crumac arose, phoenix-like, from the ashes of The Suffering Gaels, the premiere Irish band in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest for two decades. This trio's polish and affinity for playing traditional Irish music makes for an exciting listening experience. Since 1989 they have played from coast to coast and as far east as Japan. This concert promises to be a lively and exciting performance of Irish music. Where: Highline Community College, 2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines, 98198, in the Artist-Lecture Center
When: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 @ 7:30pm
