Pick the trips YOU want to drive! Most of our trips are in King, Pierce or Snohomish Counties on weekdays. Popular trips take you and your travelers to casinos, cultural and theatre events, fun northwest communities, museums and MORE! All trip details are handled by the activity center...YOU get to drive and all of your expenses are paid for! For more information about our volunteer drivers for day trips please call or email Sue Padden, 206-870-6584.
Seniors in our communities urgently need your help! Senior Services Transportation Program operates shuttles in Des Moines-Normandy Park, Burien-Highline and Shoreline-Lake Forest Park. The Senior Shuttles take seniors to buy groceries, get to medical appointments and run other local errands. Because of a shortage in volunteers to drive the shuttle, routes are being canceled and many seniors are finding it harder than ever to get around. Volunteer to drive the Senior Shuttles and you'll meet new people while helping seniors remain independent and in their own homes. Choose your weekly shifts and receive free training in defensive driving and passenger assistance. You do not need a special driver's license and do no lifting or bearing of weight. Interested? Call or email Melissa at (206) 748-7588 or visit Senior Services web page for more information. |

Premiere Irish Band Crumac Visits Des Moines
The final concert in this year's Waterland Music Series features Crumac: Traditional Irish Music from Seattle.
- Tuesday, April 20th, 7:30pm
- Highline Community College (2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines, 98198), Artist-Lecture Center, (Bldg. 7).
The venue provides a cozy setting in which to enjoy music with lively acoustics and ample free parking. This concert is hosted by the City of Des Moines Arts Commission and the Highline Community College Music Department. Crumac arose, phoenix-like from the ashes of The Suffering Gaels, the premiere Irish band in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest for two decades. This trio's polish and obvious affinity for playing traditional Irish music together makes for an exciting listening experience. Since 1989 in various combinations they have played from coast to coast and even as far east as Japan. This concert promises to be a lively and exciting performance of Irish music. Single tickets are $15/adult or $5/student. Group discounts are available. Advance tickets available at Des Moines Field House and Des Moines Florist, 721 S. 219th St., Des Moines. Tickets will also be at the door. Call or email Parks & Rec (206) 870-6527 for ticketing or concert information. |

| City Isn't Hosting Spring Egg Hunt! |
With a reduction in city staffing and funding for the 2010 budget cycle, the city of Des Moines unfortunately has been forced to cancel our annual Spring Egg Hunt. Your recreation team remains committed to offering you a well rounded core of recreation activities for our residents, despite a few bumps in the road. A fun alternative to our event is the Grace Lutheran Church egg hunt on Saturday, April 3rd.
Thank you for understanding, and enjoy your holiday.
