Factors that Affect Healing
I believe a number of factors affect the healing that takes place for a recipient of Reiki. Some of these factors are: Consistent treatment: In rare instances one treatment may bring about a complete healing. More commonly, a condition requires multiple treatments given consistently over time, especially if the condition is chronic. Mrs. Takata advised that any condition existing for more than three weeks be treated daily until healed. Willingness and Intention: Reiki never forces healing. In a gentle way, it helps to bring about the healing of all that is ready to be healed. The recipient must truly desire healing, be willing to accept it, and make changes that may be necessary to complete it. Sometimes the recipient may block healing on a subconsicous level, even though intellectually he or she wishes to be healed. Life Purpose: Sometimes a condition may be necessary for the recipient to fulfill his or her purpose in this lifetime. The condition itself may or may not be healed, but in either case, Reiki can help bring about healing on the emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. It can help reveal and integrate the lessons to be learned from the condition, as well as mitigate the fear, pain, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and confusion that may accompany chronic or terminal illness.
Reiki always heals on some level: The recipient may experience immediate relief of symptoms or receive healing that is so subtle it only becomes apparent over time. It is also possible that neither the recipient nor the practitioner may be aware of the healing, but healing always takes place.

Good News
A Personal HealingOn impulse, during a recent holiday event I received a treatment from a reflexologist who is also a Reiki practitioner. During the treatment he told me that at some point in my life, a vertebrae in my back had been broken. I was not surprised to hear this because I had had pain in my back for as long as I could remember. The day after my reflexology treatment, I received a distant healing from an adept whom I do not know but was connected with through one of my Reiki students. The next day, Monday, I received a massage and Reiki treatment from another Reiki colleague. Monday night, as I gave myself Reiki prior to falling asleep, my back suddenly arched involuntarily, as if I were being pulled off the bed by a puppet string. As my mid-back reconnected with the bed, I knew that the vertebrae had been healed. Or, perhaps more precisely, that the trauma associated with the injury had been healed. I awoke the next morning free of pain in my back for the first time in memory, and I haven't had pain there since. I believe the sequence of treatments I received from the other practitioners created the "perfect storm" for healing, and that my self-treatment allowed the work of the others to come to fruition. I am seeing clients at my Wallingford location: 1812 N 48th St. Seattle, WA 98103 206.523.4456 Make an appointment. Contact me if you have good news to share.

Volunteer Opportunities
Become a Distant Reiki Angel
Distant Reiki Angels are a group of Level II or above practitioners who have agreed to receive email requests for distant Reiki from fellow practitioners. The request may be for the practitioner, a family member, or friend.
Based on time available and other life circumstances at the time of the request, each "Angel" evaluates the request and chooses whether or not to send Reiki. If the "Angel" chooses to proceed, he or she will send distant Reiki as frequently as possible over a two-week period, or longer, if necessary.
For more information or to become a part of this group, contact me.
