Greetings!

Welcome to the May issue of The Reiki for Living News! My intention for this monthly newsletter is to support Reiki practitioners and to provide useful information for anyone who may wish to know more about Reiki. I welcome your feedback.

"We just know it works."

At the largest active duty armored post in the US, Ft. Hood army base in central Texas, Dr. Jerry Wesch has been charged with creating the best program in the country for treating soldiers suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

A Reiki Master himself, Wesch has three professional Reiki practitioners on staff as part of a comprehensive "Warrior Reset" program. The results have been inspiring. He responds to skeptics with: "We don't know how it works; we just know it works."

More and more medical professionals are acknowledging this truth as Reiki expands into more birthing rooms, hospice programs, psychotherapy sessions, surgery pre and post-op, and the operating room itself. Some of the positive results are reduction in stress and anxiety, shorter recovery time, and less need for pain and other medication.

It is an exciting time to be doing this work!

See the Summer 2010 issue of Reiki News Magazine for a moving article about Reiki in the operating room with Dr. Oz.

Healing the Healer

A commitment to our own healing is essential if we are to be effective Reiki practitioners.

Regular and consistent self-treatment is an important component of self-healing. Giving Reiki to others facilitates our own healing as well, because we receive a treatment each time we give one. However, for me, the greatest healing has taken place as a result of my weekly treatment exchange with another Reiki Master.

This exchange has been ongoing for six years. The result for both of us has been healing beyond anything either of us could have imagined when we began. The result for me has been that I enjoy the greatest degree of health, on all levels, that I've experienced at any time in my life.

If you don't have an exchange partner or know someone willing to partner with you, search the IARP (International Association of Reiki Practitioners) website: www.iarpreiki.org
for practitioners in your area. I believe you will be richly rewarded.
