About Us
It has been a very busy spring here at Veterans Green Jobs - from gearing up for summer job training, to planning climbing and river trips, to celebrating Colorado Governor Ritter's last bill signing, our staff has been working diligently to continue bringing green jobs programs and unique opportunities to veterans.

We have also experienced some change here within Veterans Green Jobs. Our co-founder, Brett KenCairn, is returning to the private sector, having successfully led Veterans Green Jobs through our initial start-up phase. Brett's vision and passion for military veterans, the environment and the economy have been truly remarkable, and his creative leadership and dedication to our mission will be hard to match. From securing $11.8 million in contracts with the Governor's Energy Office to weatherize low-income homes, to winning $1.25 in grants from the Walmart Foundation to keep our mission going, and jump-starting several unique initiatives to serve vets and Colorado communities, Brett leaves behind a legacy of commitment and a deep connection to the work. He also leaves Veterans Green Jobs in good hands with a highly dedicated and talented staff and board who will continue to bring Brett's vision to bear. Please join me in saluting Brett as he moves on to his next adventure!

Please check out the opportunities below and get in touch as soon as possible if you'd like to sign up for our summer programs. And by all means, pass this information along to your friends and colleagues!

We look forward to many interesting adventures with you. In the meantime, feel free to get in touch at any time.

Regards,

Don "Rocky" Basler, Interim CEO and Former Board Member for Veterans Green Jobs

Energy Efficiency Training - Starts July 26!

Veterans Green Jobs is recruiting military veterans to participate in energy efficiency training at NO COST starting July 26, 2010. The four-week course offered by Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) will conclude with an eight-week paid internship with Ardently Green, a Virginia-based energy efficiency contractor.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the weatherization industry, one of the few industries that is primed for growth and job creation.

This is incredibly rewarding work that helps you connect with the great outdoors, and equips you with the skills you need to be prepared for a job in the natural resources field or other outdoor-related field.

Done in cooperation with national forests, national parks, the Bureau of Land Management, and state and local government agencies, these projects are an opportunity to take care of our national treasures while working alongside other vets!

The New Energy Economy

At the Veterans Green Jobs warehouse on Friday, June 11, Colorado Governor Ritter signed 5 New Energy Economy bills into law. We were proud to host this momentous and festive occasion, which drew about 200 guests. This was the last bill signing of Governor Ritter's tenure - and a landmark day for clean energy bills. Read more about the bills he signed on the Governor's web site. And don't forget to check out our FaceBook photo album to get a feel for the day's festivities!
