About Nanolia

The name Nanolia is derived from Greek and reflects the company's interest in nano coatings, the application of nano technology to bring new properties to surfaces.

These qualities include making surfaces resistant to abrasion, stain, corrosion or moisture, protected from spills of acids, fats and oils, anti-bacterial, heat tolerant, colour-fast and U/V protected - and easier to clean using only water.

FEATURED PRODUCTS - Stone Guard and Stone Protect
Guess which half was treated with Guard?
Nano-treated brick
How do I choose between Nanolia Stone Guard and Stone Protect?

Especially recommended for use on sandstone, plaster, concrete, fibre concrete or roof tiling, Nanolia Stone Guard is a "breathing" impregnation with a protection against soiling/marking for practically all types of porous or absorbent mineral-based materials.

But so is Nanolia Stone Protect. So what is the difference?

While both of these products are "breathing" impregnations that protect against soiling/marking for practically all types of porous or absorbent mineral-based materials and are suitable for use indoors and outside, for extra protection outdoors and where freeze-thaw cycles may be a significant issue, we recommend the use of Nanolia Stone Protect.

This is because as this Nanolia Stone Protect also seals and protects against weathering, water, acid, snow, frost and ice. In particular, because it is an impregnating, hydro-phobic sealer it also protects porous building materials such as brick, tiles, concrete and paving against efflorescence.

"Impossible" Cleaning tasks - removing rust marks from stone
Having sung the praises of the Nanolia range to my local supermarket owner he set me a challenge. He had recently completed his new house and had all the stone protected by a local company using what they considered to be the best product in the market.

He had been given a plant holder as a gift by the in-laws which had prime location outside the front door on the stone patio. Unfortunately it left rust marks which impregnated the stone and left a horrible mess.

After trying everything to remove the marks, getting back the contractor to try to remove the marks and finally getting some very strong acid, nothing would remove the marks. He was left with brown rusty marks on the natural stone straight in front of his front door.

The Nanolia Challenge was to remove the marks.

An appointment was made and time set aside as this was expected to be a real challenge. The owner even invited the original contractor, his builder and architect to see the problem and clearly was not expecting Nanolia to achieve what others had obviously failed to do.

I got down on my hands and knees and looked at the marks, the owner was shaking his head and the contractor said "you're wasting your time, we have to dig it up and replace the patio".

After assessment I thought that the best way to tackle this was by first using Nanolia Pre-Cleaner then perhaps our Anti-Graffiti removal gel pro. So I poured a little Pre-Clean on the damaged area.

Due to the type of stone I decided to leave this soak in for a short time, just enough time to have a drink which was kindly offered.

I got back down to the job and took out a Nanolia Eraser to remove the Pre-cleaner.

I did not need to do much more, the marks were nearly gone. A wash with a hose pipe cleared the rest.

We were invited into the house to finish our drink and I happened to spot the limescale around the chrome tap. One wipe with Nanolia Pre-Cleaner the limescale was history.

It seems Nanolia Pre-Cleaner can clean almost anything, it is eco friendly, anti-bacterial, anti-mould,  anti-corrosive (amazingly!) and cleans to a deeper level than almost any other cleaner on the market.

Once again Nanolia raised above the challenge.
