Greetings!

On Wednesday, June 2nd, the New York Tobacconist's Association is going back to Albany to lobby against the 90% proposed OTP tax. This will be our 2nd time to Albany within a month. We must keep the pressure on and remain at the forefront of the lawmakers minds. We are already making a difference with our efforts on the first trip and we just got this letter from Pedro Espada, Jr. He is the Senate Majority Leader. In this letter to John Sampson he opposes the increase in the OTP tax. This is a very big step for us.

I encourage all who can attend to do so. We will be meeting at 9am, Wednesday, June 2nd at:

The Well
Legislative Office Building
Albany, NY 12247

Between State and Swan Streets in Albany.

If you are using GPS and the above address is not working you can use the Crown Plaza Hotel address which has a garage for you to park and it's a block away:

The Crown Plaza Hotel
State & Lodge Streets
Albany, NY 12207

For those of you who would like to go up the night before we have arranged a special rate of $89 a night through Scott Bendett, Thank you Scott! at the Holiday Inn Express. Scott needs to know who will be staying overnight and you will need to email him directly at scott@pipesandcigars.com. Make sure you email Scott using the email that I just provided so he can set up the rooms for those staying overnight. The link to the hotel is just to get the address and see what they offer. If you book through the hotel link you will get charged a higher rate.

Keep in mind that we will be lobbying all day from 9am till 4pm and we will not have a break for lunch so I suggest you have a good breakfast.

You walk into the Legislative Office Building, you go through security, and you go down the steps or down the elevator. It is right there.

If anyone has any questions please contact me at melendi@delaconcha.com or my cell at 908-216-0862.

One final note, If possible please let me know if you are going to attend. You can call or email me.
