Friendship Project

From our children to the children in Guatemala

Reverend Wendy will be leading a group of people from The Unity Center on a Travel with a Purpose adventure to Guatemala in May. They will be taking a "Friendship Package" to a special class of children. The package will include colored markers, pencils, pencil sharpeners, stickers and a composition book for each child.

We have contacted a class who could use school supplies through an organization called the Mayan Families Organization. They help indigenous people seek improved lives while remaining sensitive to and encouraging the preservation of the ongoing traditions of their indigenous culture. The program empowers people - primarily women, children and the elderly - through education and community services.

As a gesture of generosity and friendship, The Unity Center children are being invited to make a drawing that will be given to a child along with their composition book. On Sunday, our children may make a drawing of anything they would like to express friendship.

Whole natural foods, like an apple, are high in fiber, loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and beneficial substances!  Healthy foods nourish our children longer, balance moods, sustain energy, and optimize elimination. Ultimately, they support increased quality of life and reduce degenerative illness so epidemic in our country.

If your child is transitioning from a more commercially, processed diet, remember we have to taste a food at least seven times before we develops a preference for it.  So keep trying, especially with those finicky toddlers, and expect gradual changes.
