Welcome,
Joy: Just Open Yourself!
What a fabulous and simple formula. And then Life happens. We will always have to deal with situations in life that are less than pleasant - no matter how long we have been on a spiritual path. There are always circumstances we hadn't planned or asked for (at least consciously!) that we would rather not have to deal with.
Living consciously does not change that. BUT it does shift how we respond to such things. That is where JOY comes in. By opening ourselves to remembering who we are, who we came here to be-joy can be realized in those difficult times. By reaching into the strength that we have created by our very practices of committed, focused prayer and meditation, we have the opportunity to be in joy right there in the middle of it all. Joy is not just a way of being it is a STATE of being.
A quote by an unknown author comes to mind, " It is not what is happening around you that counts - it is what is happening inside of you that matters." Choose JOY- Just Open Yourself to the possibility and find a deeper place of peace and centeredness in your day to day living.

Spiritual Practices That Change Your Life

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, in the Chapel,
Cost: $50.00 for four sessions
Rev. Will's " Spiritual Practices That Change Your Life" is designed to create a permanent leap in consciousness. We will be asking probing questions like:
" If we are spiritual beings, why do we need to practice?, "As a spiritual being, what is my purpose in life?", "Where does my spiritual path lead me?" and "What practices will really help me to awaken spiritually?" This engaging experience of lecture, meditation, journaling and experimenting with the spiritual practices of the world's great masters will support you in finding what works for you!

The Circulation Tree
Take a moment to visit The Circulation Tree located at the entrance to Youth and Family. This tree was originally created by our teens as a gratitude tree. When the Mom's saw the tree they thought of a practical way to show gratitude for all our families.
Using this Tree, families can "circulate" items in good condition - high chairs, toys, and gently used children's clothing.
- The green leaf is for items you'd like to circulate.
- The yellow leaf is for items you want to receive.
You are welcome to take a leaf with the intention of following through on the items requested on the leaf.

Angels Wanted
Lots of fun and important ways YOU can be of service
Welcome Angel Ministry (Youth and Family Ambassadors)
Welcome families to the youth and family wing; assist new families in finding the right classrooms; introduce them to the Director and teachers; provide Welcome Packets to new families among other small tasks.
Bake Sale Team Angels
Everyone loves having yummy treats on Sunday. Every month, we have a bake sale to provide scholarships for spiritual events for our youth. We are looking for 3-4 people to assist in creating the monthly themes and in overseeing the bake sale on a rotating basis 3-4 times a year.
Kids' Connection Angels
The nurturing, joyous souls who care for our youth help create a sense of family and home so that the children have a great Kids' Connection experience while their parents attend service.
Periodically, we need additional assistance in the classroom. Once a month, for one service, Kids Connection Angels warmly greet youth and parents, and assist children with individual needs in the classroom.
Office Assistance Needed
Barbara Ben David, Director of Outreach, is in need of an assistant with sales and marketing experience who is available to help 4-6 hours per week.
General Office Angels Needed
Our office staff has expanded and we are in need of more support for various tasks requiring computer experience.

In continued support of the Haiti Relief Fund Project, this Sunday we will again have a box located in the lobby.

CAFE VIDEO DISCUSSION GROUP
Wednesday evening, February 3rd, our Café Video group will feature a satsang with Adyashanti called "Conscious Freedom." A clear discussion about spiritual seeking, progress, and wakening along with some questions and answers. Join Rev Will in The Unity Center Chapel (upstairs near the bookstore) at 6:45 pm for a 15 minute meditation, then the video begins at 7:10 pm.
