Greetings!
At Home
You Just Never Know What You're Going To Find
April
So many writers and philosophers have likened baseball to life.
They've written poems and tomes with great insight and sagacity illuminating the mirror-like mutuality of these two endeavors. For those who love the game the observations are poignant and utterly clear. For those for whom a three-hour baseball game is nothing short of water boarding, no amount of prose can light the light. So we thought we'd share a different perspective.
We think baseball is a lot like plumbing.
Wait. Don't go.
In baseball you must always stay focused. Same thing in plumbing. You simply can not leave the job undone. You can't walk away defeated. There are no "nice tries" in baseball and plumbing. There's no sense of satisfaction in finishing second. In baseball and in plumbing there are, to varying degrees, a lot of people counting on you to come through for them. And when you do, the rewards are great.
Parades, endorsements, customers for life.
See? Hope you enjoy our spring fling - At Home!

In Case You Missed It.
We sent out a major news release on Sunday, April 1. We thought the media would devour it. In case you missed it...
Aiello Announces Astonishing Aeronautical Service Plan. Company Plans Six Helipads in Connecticut River.
Windsor Locks, CT - Aiello Home Services, celebrating its 80th year as one of Connecticut's largest and most forward-thinking HVAC companies, today announced an audacious plan to better serve homeowners living within 75 miles of the long Connecticut River coastline from Enfield to Long Island Sound.
Aiello has filed plans with the FAA and CT State Department of Fish and Wildlife to construct six floating helipads at strategic locations in the Connecticut River where Aiello's new fleet of eight Sikorsky Helicopters will land emergency plumbers and electricians. This $177-million effort is being undertaken by Aiello in an effort to provide the most timely and efficient home services. -
"If spending $177-million dollars on this project makes it possible for us to provide better, faster heating and air conditioning service - to even one customer - well, by golly, it's money well spent," said Aiello Home Services president, Michael Jezouit.
While the helipads have been specially designed to float on the often turbulent waters of the Connecticut, Aiello's architects, Off Plumb Associates, have designed the pads to stay in place once installed. The helipads will be bolted to the river bed with super strong Teflon-coated really thick wires secured to newly designed "river caps" similar to those found on bottles of Extra Strength Tylenol. Only bigger.
Aiello's Olympic-caliber service technicians will swim or dog paddle to shore where waiting Jitneys will take them to their service calls.
Construction supervisor Anthony "Little Peach" O'Brian of On Time Construction expected completion of the project by Spring Flood Season. "That's if people stay out of the way, ya know," he said.
Since 1931, Aiello Home Services has provided heating and air conditioning services, plumbing, electrical, generator and well and water services to homeowners in more than 100 cities and towns in Connecticut.

Help
We don't know Manny Jimenez. But he is our son. Our brother. Our dad or favorite uncle. He's also a Glastonbury native and a Marine of the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines who was severely wounded in Afghanistan. The Glastonbury Rotary, led by Craig Wellman is helping a team lead by Purple Heart Homes (purplehearthomesusa.org) in building a handicap accessible home for Cpl. Jimenez.
Aiello Home Services was proud to donate $1,000 towards the project and our plumbers and electricians have also volunteered to do what they can to help in building this new home. If you would like to help - in any way - contact Craig Wellman of the Glastonbury Rotary or make a donation to the Manny Jimenez Home at American Eagle Federal Credit Union - Purple Heart Homes -

Some people love Boston. Others, Las Vegas, but nearly everyone we know loves New York. They even have a song about it. Better yet - they have the master plan. At the Museum of the City of New York there is an exhibit called, The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan 1811-2011 - celebrating 200 years of this New York City Treasure. We saw it. We loved it. We think you might too. The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan, 1811-2011 Dec 6 through Jul 15, 2012 The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan, 1811-2011 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Commissioners' Plan of 1811, the foundational document that established Manhattan's famous street grid. Featuring an original hand-drawn map of New York's planned streets and avenues prepared by the Commission in 1811, as well as other rare historic maps, photographs and prints of the evolution of the city's streets, and original manuscripts and publications that document the city's physical growth, the exhibition examines the grid's initial design, implementation, and evolution. The Greatest Grid traces the enduring influence of the 1811 plan as the grid has become a defining feature of the city, shaping its institutions and public life. Weekday mornings between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm and weekday late afternoons between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm are the best times of day to visit The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan, 1811-2011 to avoid crowds |

Thank You Aiello
Whew....
Aiello service personnel pride themselves on doing the job right the first time and making a good impression with customers. While we rarely brag about it - this letter from a customer in Cheshire was just too good not to share.
Ever get the feeling that hiring a home services contractor is a crap shoot? Well, those days are over. Aiello is not your typical plumbing, heating, electrical, A/C, water quality company. Our experience with them completely changed our view of the industry. They deliver an unheard of level of professionalism.
Aiello is a sizable, well staffed organization with a team of highly skilled professionals. Each employee specializes in a specific function.
For our A/C install, we were assigned an account rep, an installation team, an equipment removal team, and a final inspection team. The process is well coordinated with everyone keeping in touch with each other and the home office to eliminate waiting time. From the first quote to final job completion, everyone was prompt, courteous, considerate, respectful and skilled.
There was no mystery and no surprises. Everyone carries a high tech handheld device that allows them to print quotes, invoices and receipts and swipe credit cards on the spot.
The installers did not leave until their work was inspected by a supervisor. They even laid down plastic to protect our flooring, and cleaned up after themselves! How often does that happen?
And top-notch service didn't necessarily translate into exorbitant prices either. Their computerized price list ensures fair pricing and leaves no room for guesswork.
After doing extensive research, we are confident we got a very competitive price. No more being ripped off by shoddy plumbers, electricians and HVAC guys.
We've found a new home services company. Thank you, Aiello.

Also - last month's winners included: Cindy Erwin who correctly identified Lou Costello, Christina Edelwich who won the Fiddler tickets and Pat Blasi who correctly identified the photo as Siena, Italy. We thank everyone who played - and hope you will win this month!
Sincerely,
