| Greetings! |
|
Wow, so I can't believe December is here already; seems a little ironic that such a challenging year has gone by so quickly...or it could be that's just what happens once you hit 35!
Here at TCDC we've looked at 2009 as the year of opportunity. We've worked on marketing our services and also enhancing the service our patient's deserve. We're totally open to any and all feedback you guys can offer and we'll be flattered when you take the time.
I'm pretty sure we've logged at least 50 hours of continuing education with Invisalign alone and that's not counting eight more coming up on December 11. Like I've shared before, I regard Invisalign as one of the most powerful innovations to hit dentistry during my career. So please just humor me if I always seem so dang psyched about the non-metallic approach.
This month, we'll follow-up on some cosmetic tips, high-light a celebrity patient, and unveil a new approach to TCDC's efforts supporting A Better LA. Plus, there'll be the spotlight on Twin Tower of Hygiene Peggy. And yeah, there'll be some USC football post mortems that will probably secure the University of Spoiled Children image.
Oops, almost forgot about "What's up with Aunt Clara," paraffin hand care and some new spa possibilities (okay, look for some chair massage), videos and photos, and a special PSA featuring Coach Pete Carroll.
Season's Greetings from all of us at TCDC. We sure appreciate you year-round - but we want you to know what a gift you really are to us. Hey, you are part of our family! Enjoy the holidays. Yours truly,
Dr. V

Invisalign Day - Super Success!
Our November 11 Invisalign Day was a great success! Multiple folks started care with a $750 rebate, free teeth whitening, and gifts. Monica Kamekona won a flat screen TV and Peggy Forbes won tickets to the beautiful and historic Pasadena Playhouse.
We had a few prospective Invisaligners with scheduling conflicts so we chose to extend our offer (including 2-year interest free financing) through the end of 2009. If you have unused Flex funds or dental insurance, the "use it; don't lose it" law applies.

| Celebrity Patient Kevin Erdman |
Kevin is Singing Dental Assistant Kolleen's golf pro brother and resident TCDC tournament ringer. You can see Kevin flash his Invisalign/ Zoom! Whitening smile on the Golf Channel's The Big Break coming from Orlando, Florida. (Gotta love the pants!)
As I'm writing, Kevin has advanced to Week Nine and is one of the final four contestants (Big Break started with twelve.) What's really cool is Kevin hasn't really played competitive golf in four years; he's caddied for wife golf pro Courtney (who also excelled in Kaanapali's Big Break.) Hasn't slowed Kevin down a bit even though he's competing with golfers who're full-time tour players.
I'll add you'll never find a better teacher and Kevin gives lessons at Altadena Golf Club.

Charge it?
"You'd think that having attended USC and having briefly interacted with many Trojan coeds, I'd have quickly acquired some sense of the payoff that comes from buying stuff all the time. I know for sure I've seen an endorphin or two light up other committed shoppers."

| Cosmetic Tip of the Month |
Invisalign (I know...again) is in the cards, ask for free teeth whitening while you straighten your teeth without metal braces.
The clear Invisalign trays or aligners fit as accurately as a CT-scan will allow; you'll never have a more effective whitening tray.
P.S. All TCDC home whitening proceeds will go to A Better LA in 2010.

| A Better L.A UPDATE |
|
2010 Brings Colgate and TCDC Together for a Fabulous Cause!
Our 2010 goal is to work with Colgate and contribute all tray/ home whitening proceeds to A Better LA year round...and triple our fundraising from 2009. A Better LA is an amazing organization whose vision, as I see it, is working from within communities to create an environment where families can work, play, and dream without fear.
A Better LA was founded by USC football Coach Pete Carroll; the organization hopes to become a global model for community transformation. Temple City Dental Care is proud to be a committed supporter of A Better LA. Want to know more about A Better LA direct from its founder Pete Carroll?

USC UPDATE Stanford game debacle
So I think Dickens totally knew what he was talking about when he wrote, "...it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" leading off his A Tale of Two Cities.
Charles could have been talking about Palo Alto and LA on Saturday, November 14. It ain't Dickens, but here's an excerpt from my Temple City Tribune column, printed the following week:
"Losing 55-21 to Stanford at the Coliseum is like being invaded by the French, or having your hometown sacked, pillaged, and plundered by a San Marino cyclist gang, or being beat-up by your little sister in your own front yard. While the Trojan motto and battle cry has long been "Fight on!" what I saw last Saturday was more like "Roll over!" or "I have a headache!" or "Tread on me...pleeease!"
But we made up for this stinker with the traditional beating of the bruins! |
| TEAM STAR: Twin Tower of Hygiene Peggy Martin |
Peggy Martin has actually been a major contributor to TCDC twice. Peggy did a great job early on, took off some time after giving birth to daughter Sarah, and returned for Part Deux. Peggy is great with people and has extensive laser training and experience. Peggy completed her Hygiene training at USC, loves Trojan football, and is a major fan of USC Coach Pete Carroll (She's been known to pawn off an autographed photo with Coach Pete and son Christopher as a family portrait.)
The Martin family includes husband Rikki (no, not that one), St. Paul footballer son Christopher, and daughters Emily and Sarah. Peggy is a morning person who voluntarily sees our earliest patients at 7:30AM...and always with a smile and plenty of trash talk for the bruins. It's great having Peggy as part of our team. And you can check out her perfect teeth, courtesy of Invisalign (All team members at TCDC have been Invisalign patients and are now resident experts.)

| What's Up with Aunt Clara? |
A few words of wisdom from Aunt C:
"I'm not sick. I feel better!" I'm never gonna argue this positive approach to stuff when someone older (and with fewer sick days) than Singing Dental Assistant Kolleen, Twin Tower of Hygiene Jen, and Dental Assistant Extraordinaire Dani put together is dishing out the wisdom. Why not live into what's positive? Reminds me that my Mom and dad and Aunts and Uncles never once discussed what they couldn't do.
Not a bad thought for the Holidays in 2009!
