WEEKLY UPDATE Wednesday, April 27, 2011 |
| Greetings! | |
We have several things going on this week and next that are critical to realizing our vision to build one of the world's premier business communities. We hope you will join us! |
|
Congratulations to our April Small Business of the Month: International Plastics! | |

This month's small business award goes to a company with an entrepreneurial legacy that is the epitome of "The American Dream." Founded in 1964 by J.R. McClure (with a $500 loan from his mother) as a convertor of plastic bags for the textile industry, International Plastics continues as a thriving, second-generation, family business that employs 33 associates. From inception, their mission has been simple: "To help customers succeed by providing complete packaging solutions."
International Plastics has done just that for 35,000+ customers, many of which are "Fortune 500" companies in all 50 states and over 20 countries.
International Plastics manufactures, imports, and supplies all types of protective flexible packaging for a variety of industries. Specializing in poly/plastic bags, box liners, drum liners, reclosable zip-lock bags, retail shopping bags, trade show bags, poly tubing, and poly films, they are able to custom design and manufacture flexible packaging to just about any specification. Their website boasts over 600 sizes of poly bags and over 4,000 packaging-related products ready for same-day shipping.
Over the past 47 years, International Plastics has established an industry reputation of "Operational Excellence." Their corporate philosophy and policies are firmly based on their mission, vision and values. All associates are encouraged and empowered to make decisions based on those core principles. When asked about International Plastics' culture, VP of Operations Mark McClure said, "We work hard to exemplify 'The Golden Rule' in ALL relationships; employees, customers and vendors alike. The end result is not only found in satisfied customers, but in a company culture that is appreciated by our associates and envied by our peers."
In spite of the recession, International Plastics has seen significant growth in revenue and profitability. In a time where most companies are cutting back, International Plastics never laid an associate off and has been profitable in all 47 years of its existence. Owners Steve McClure, Mark McClure, and Carolyn M. Robinson accepted the award at the Chamber's monthly Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, April 21. Learn more at www.interplas.com. |
