| Swarthmore Fun Run - Every Wednesday - Our Most Attended Fun Run! |
49 runners and walkers joined up at the Swarthmore Fun Run last night. 19 people went to Swarthmore Pizza after the run to enjoy good food, drink and friends. Remember, you don't have to run to join us for dinner. Come on out and join in the fun. All abilities are welcome both to the run/walk and to eat.

Delaware County Run for the Heroes 5K
The race starts at 9am on Sunday, October 7, 2012 and runs through the Colonial Park section of Springfield. The proceeds benefits the Delaware County Hero Scholarship fund for children of police, firefighters, and EMS responders that have died in the line of duty. I heard the course is mostly flat and fast.The teams consist of five runners. The cost is $14.00 per runner. Please make the checks payable to Delco Road Runners. I need to know the following information.
Name, Full Address, Telephone number, E-Mail, Birthdate, T-Shirt Size, Emergency contact person with their telephone number, Expected Finish Time.
You can e-mail me the information and/or mail the information and check to me at Dennis Tate, 158 Marlborough Rd., Upper Darby, PA 19082.You can always hand the information and check to me at the bike shop in Media or at a fun run.
Deadline for getting me your registration information is September 21, 2012.

Rock "n" Roll Volunteers Needed

The Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon is looking for volunteers at their Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, September 14 from 10am to 6pm and at the race on Sunday, September 16 from 5:30am to 1pm at the Start/Finish line. They are offering a donation to Delco RRC as a thanks for volunteers, so if you would like to volunteer, please contact Diane Rowe at diane.rowe@gmail.com to make sure our volunteers get counted appropriately. I will be happy to put volunteers in touch with each other if you are interested in carpooling, etc.

We are currently exhibiting vibrant color photographs of the Rarámuri people, known for their 100+ mile foot races through the Sierra Madre. On Saturday, September 22, the Penn Museum is presenting a Run! program featuring the exhibition photographer Diana Molina and filmmaker Sterling Noren. Photographer Diana Molina and Filmmaker Sterling Noren
Texas-born photographer and journalist Diana Molina speaks about her experiences among the Rarámuri people, the focus of her new exhibition Run! Super-Athletes of the Sierra Madre, currently on view at the Penn Museum. Filmmaker Sterling Noren shares his video, Run Free! The Legend of Micah True, which tells the story behind the Copper Canyon Ultramarathon and its charismatic founder.

Run! opened in March, just days after the death of Micah True, a.k.a. Caballo Blanco, beloved founder of the Copper Canyon Ultramarathon races and a great supporter of the Rarámuri people and culture. The Museum has dedicated the exhibition to his memory. Considered to be the world's greatest long-distance runners, the Rarámuri live within the dramatic canyons of the Sierra Madre in Chihuahua, Mexico. Competing on mountainous terrain in daylong races of up to 100 miles, they have maintained the strength, stamina, and isolation that have ensured their survival through the centuries. Experience the races for yourself through the vibrant and colorful photography of Texas-born photographer and journalist Diana Molina, who has documented the Sierra Madre and its people for nearly two decades. A book-signing of the new exhibition catalogue follows. Run! is supported in part by the Mexican Society of Philadelphia and The Honickman Foundation in honor of the memory of Elaine Garfinkel. Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania ( www.ThePennRelays.com) and the Philadelphia Runner ( www.philadelphiarunner.com), with stores in University City, Center City, and Glen Eagle Square, are exhibition partners.
