Bob Huggins - Funeral Info

Bob Huggins
Robert Brian Huggins, 58 Robert Brian Huggins, age 58, of Collingdale, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on December 22, 2011 at Vitas Hospice Services in Darby, Pennsylvania after a long illness. Robert (Bob) was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 11, 1953, but lived almost his entire life in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from St. Andrew School and Monsignor Bonner High School (class of 1971) in Drexel Hill. He earned a BA in Business Administration from Villanova University in 1975 and later his Masters Degree in Marketing from Temple University. Bob worked for The United Way in Pennsylvania and in Delaware for many years. What began as a loaned executive assignment through PNC Bank where he was a Vice President of Marketing blossomed into a long term career with the United Way. Bob was active in the local running community for many years until injury and illness prevented him from running and bicycling, and finally from timing the road races he enjoyed so much. Bob also enjoyed music, windsurfing and spending time at the shore. Bob will be remembered in so many wonderful ways, but most of all as a truly loving and devoted son, a loyal and dependable brother , and as an uncle who always seemed to find the perfect toys for his many nieces and nephews and who always had time to play or talk with them. Survivors: Bob is survived by his loving parents, Lawrence Patrick Huggins and Mary Flynn Huggins of Neptune, New Jersey; his brothers, Lawrence Patrick Huggins Jr. and wife Sharon of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; Michael Dennis Huggins and wife Lisa of Westchester, Pennsylvania, Brendan Eugene Huggins and wife Mary of Edison, New Jersey; and his sister, Mary Huggins Wright and husband Andrew Wright of Cumberland, Maine; his twelve much loved nieces and nephews: Suzann Gallagher, Dennis, Timothy, Brendan, Daniel, Erin, Maria, Amanda, Madeline, and Alana Huggins, and Brian and John Wright. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 27 from 9:00-10:00am immediately followed by a 10:00am funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 500 Woodlawn Avenue, Collingdale, PA. Interment: There will be a cemetery service following the Mass at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's memory may be made to the Delaware County SPCA at 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, PA 19063. Funeral arrangements are through John J. McFadden Funeral Home in Aldan, Pennsylvania.

"In addition to being a dedicated runner and DELCO RRC club member, Bob cared a lot about the community as evidenced by his employment at United Way.  He was always very helpful to me and advocated on behalf of BBBS.

His death at this time of year is somewhat ironic since he is the person who turned me on to the movie, The Christmas Story-"you'll shoot your eye out."  While running at Collingdale, he would quote lines from the movie and we all would laugh.  He was quite a guy." - Tom Weber

"All friends are invited to a luncheon after the burial-location yet to be announced.
Bob's brother Larry said that friends are welcome to place any photos or mementos in Bob's casket during the viewing." - Byron Mundy
