Hello Delco RRC
"The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."
                            -Steven Covey

With this quote in mind:   The main thing is to be happy and healthy.  Isn't that what it is all about?  They go hand in hand.  Come out and join us for a Fun Run.  Laugh, run, be happy, be healthy. That's why we call it "Fun Runs."
Swarthmore Fun Run - Wednesday

32 runners and walkers were out last night for the Swarthmore Fun Run.  The skies finally opened up to let the sun shine down on us for the last few minutes of our run.  It made for perfect running weather. 15 people came out to Swarthmore Pizza afterward for good food, laughs and chit chat.  Come on out and join in the fun.  All abilities are welcome.

Boston Marathon Press Release

5/18/2010

BOSTON ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SETS DATE TO OPEN REGISTRATION FOR THE 2011 BOSTON MARATHON

BOSTON, Mass. - Registration for the 2011 Boston Marathon® will open on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. (ET) and will be conducted online at www.baa.org. The 115th Running of the Boston Marathon will be on Monday, April 18, 2011.

Entrants qualify for the Boston Marathon by meeting time standards which correspond to age and gender, and the qualifying standards for the 2011 race remain unchanged from recent past years. Qualifying standards for the 2011 Boston Marathon must be met on or after September 20, 2009 at a marathon certified by USA Track & Field, the national governing body for the sport (or foreign equivalent). Also, the registration fee will remain at $130 USD for residents of the USA. For last month's event, the race filled in just over two months, and the B.A.A. anticipates the maximum field size for the 2011 race also to be reached quickly.

The field size for next year's Boston Marathon remains as it has been in recent past years. In 2010, the race had 26,790 entrants and 22,721 finishers. Full registration information, including a list of qualifying marathons, and a list of the B.A.A.'s Official Charities for the Boston Marathon is available at www.baa.org.

The B.A.A. has organized the race since the inaugural Boston Marathon in 1897 when the field consisted of 18 entrants and 10 finishers.
Good Eats

Bulgar Bean Burgers

1 cup(s) water
Salt and ground black pepper
1/2 cup(s) bulgur
1 can(s) (15 to 19 ounces) reduced-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained
1 container(s) (6 ounces) plain low-fat yogurt
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
1/4 cup(s) (packed) mint leaves, chopped
Nonstick cooking spray
1 small shredded Kirby (pickling) cucumber
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
4 lettuce leaves
1 medium tomato, sliced

In 1-quart saucepan, heat water and 1/2 teaspoon salt to boiling over high heat. Stir in bulgur. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until water is absorbed.
Meanwhile, in large bowl, with potato masher or fork, mash beans with 2 tablespoons yogurt until almost smooth. Stir in bulgur, allspice, cinnamon, cumin, and half of mint until combined. With lightly floured hands, shape bean mixture into four 3-inch-round patties. Spray both sides of each patty lightly with nonstick cooking spray.

Heat nonstick 12-inch skillet over medium heat until hot. Add burgers and cook 8 minutes or until lightly browned and heated through, turning them over once.

While burgers are cooking, prepare yogurt sauce: In small bowl, combine cucumber, remaining yogurt, remaining mint, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Makes about 1 1/4 cups.

To serve, divide lettuce, tomato slices, and burgers among buns; top with some yogurt sauce. Serve with remaining yogurt sauce.

They all did great! Bob was on pace for about 3:45 then had cramping issues late in the race, but still PR'd by a good margin.
Mary Ann was right with Diane up until about 20 miles, and finished with a strong PR.
Diane did great, actually picking up her pace for the last couple miles to make it in under qualifying time by 18 seconds! And she only Yelled at me once.
Everyone had a great time meeting other runners at the pasta dinner and during the race. It was more enjoyable for me to run with the others, enjoy the scenery and share in their accomplishments.
Mike Gormley
