Delco RRC Logo

A. To promote regular running as a life-long activity that will enhance the physical, mental and emotional well being of people of all ages.
B. To sponsor weekly fun-runs in Delaware County neighborhoods for fun and fellowship.
C. To promote communication and camaraderie among area runners.
D. To facilitate competitive racing and team competition for all interested members.

Hello Delco RRC

"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up again."
                     - Vince Lombardi

With this quote in mind - You tried the 5K, 10K, Marathon, etc. and didn't meet your expectations (got knocked down)?  Don't let it stop you from getting back up and going for your goals.  Come on out to a Fun Run, join others trying to reach their goals.
Membership Update

This year's membership renewal drive ended 2/28/10.  Due to reasons that I don't want to go into, we didn't do a membership renewal drive last year.  Here are the numbers though I haven't check the mail box since Saturday 2/27.

Total members as of Feb 28th - 298
Total members as of Mar 1st - 163

Most of those that did not review are those that have no contact with the club.

Now that you have renewed your membership, come on out to the Fun Runs and other events that we offer.  We/I want you to play an active role in the club.  We'll do this again in about 9 months.

BTW, Daylight Savings Time is only 9 days away.
Tyler Trail Race - 3/27/10

Tyler Trail Run is Delco RRC's own 10K Trail run.  Join us March 27th for this "fairly" easy trail run.  Not very technical and one of the safest trail runs you will ever do.  You can register on-line by going to the Tyler Web site at www.tylertrailrun.com.  You can also click HERE to download the registration form.

This is a Delco RRC run race.  We currently have over 100 registered, well ahead of last year.  This year we are giving away short-sleeve tech shirts in both men's and women's cuts.

Volunteers will be needed to please reach out to the club to volunteer if you can.
Binder-stine Olympics Party was a Huge Success!

Amy + John hosted a grand Olympics party this past Saturday.  There were a lot of old friends to talk to, plenty of good food and drink and plenty of Olympic sports to watch both on TV and on the Wii screen.  To view pictures of the good time everyone had, click HERE.

Good Eats

Homemade Cliff Bars

1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1 1/4 cups rice cereal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup oat bran
1/2 cup vanilla protein powder
3 tablespoons ground flax seed
1 1/4 cups finely chopped dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, apricots)
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 1/3 cup crunch peanut butter
1 1/4 cup light Karo syrup (or a combination of honey, light molasses, or maple syrup)
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon extract (optional)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine dry ingredients (oats through chocolate chips) in a large bowl.  Bring the syrup and brown sugar to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.  Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until blended.  Pour peanut butter mixture over dry ingredients.  Stir until coated. (Mixture will be stiff.)  Press mixture firmly into a 13" X 9" pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.  Wax paper makes this step easier.  Cut into bars.  Wrap bars tightly in plastic wrap and store in freezer until ready to eat.  They defrost very quickly.
