New Blog Entries |
Cecile has a few new blogs that you may find of interest. I know that I enjoy them.
Here are a few samples:
``I would like to thank my friends at the Delco Road Runners Club without whom I wouldn't be here today. Thank you Byron, Bill, Janet, Jack, Steve, Chrissy, Mike, Bob, Noreen, Terry, Frank, Bill, Shirley, John, Amy and all of you I am not citing now because I'm so emotional -- you know who you are.'' (Tears of joy. Make-up runs. Applause.)...
On Saturday, Jan. 2, at about 9:30 a.m., the temperature in Fair Hill, Maryland, was in the 20s Fahrenheit with a ``real-feel'' temperature in the single digits (about -15 degrees Celsius). The wind was blasting so hard in my face that I could barely breathe. My hands were frozen and numb inside my gloves. My eyes were teary and my nose was running. I'd just caught the trail bug...

Caramel Peanut Candy Cookie Bars (like Snickers Bars)
Cookie Base
1 pouch (1lb 1.5oz) Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookie Mix
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 talbespoon water
1 egg
Filling
1/3 cup light corn syrup
3 tablespoons butter or margerine (softened)
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon plus 1.5 teaspoons water
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
Dash of salt
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Caramel Layer
1 bag (14 oz) caramels, unwrapped
2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 cups unsalted dry-roasted peanuts
Topping
1 bag (11.5oz) milk chocolate chips (2 cups)
Preparing
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray bottom only of 13 x 9 inch pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, stir cookie base ingredients until smooth dough forms. Press dough in bottom of pan. Bake 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
2. In large bowl. Beat all filling ingredients except powdered sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until well blended (filling will be thick). Press filling over cookie base. Refrigerate while preparing caramel layer.

4. In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring once, until melted. Spread evenly over caramel layer. Refrigerate about 1 hour and then cut into 9 by 4 rows. Store covered in refrigerator or at room temp. |

HIPPOPOTAMUS STEW
1 med. sized hippo 1 ton salt Pepper to taste 500 bushels potatoes 1000 gals. brown gravy 200 bushels carrots 400 sprigs parsley 2 sm. rabbits (optional)
Cut hippo meat into bite sized pieces. This will take about 2 months. Cut vegetables into cubes (another 2 months). Place meat into large pan and cover with gravy. Simmer for 4 weeks. Shovel in salt and pepper to taste. When meat is tender, add vegetables. A steam shovel is useful for this. Simmer slowly for 4 more weeks. Garnish with parsley.
Will serve 2, 700 people. If more are expected, add 2 small rabbits - this is not recommended as very few people like hare in their stew. |
