 Billy Sewell Awarded for Outstanding Service
Billy Sewell of Platinum Corral was the proud recipient of the Griff & June Glover Award for Outstanding Service to NCRLA. All NCRLA awards were presented at the 2011 Taste of North Carolina on February 28 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham. Sewell has served countless hours as the Chairman of the NCRLA Government Affairs Committee since it's inception five years ago. Onslow Events Win ShowFest Awards The NC Association of Festivals & Events and the South Carolina Festival & Event Association is pleased to announce the 2011 Excellence Award winners! The winners were revealed at the Awards Luncheon during the Carolina Showfest 2011 Conference held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, SC on Jan. 24, 2011. The conference was attended by more than two hundred festival and event planners and supporting members throughout North and South Carolina. Freedom Fountain Design
Jacksonville City Council members have endorsed a design concept for a new Freedom Fountain. The new fountain is being considered for location at the intersection of New Bridge Street and Johnson Boulevard, in the same block as the CityHall.The location can serve as a gateway to the downtown area and the placement of the fountain there would tie to the memorials at Lejeune Memorial Park where the Beirut Memorial,Vietnam Memorial and 9/11 Memorial are in place and several others are planned.  New Museum Exhibit at Onslow County Museum
The African American Experience in Onslow County is now open and will run until June 2011. From slavery to the days of Georgetown High School, this exhibit traces the culture, experiences, and history of Onslow's African Americans. Onslow County Museum

 Whispering Dove Ranch For a bit of education and lots of cute animals, there's one place to go: Whispering Dove Boer Goat Ranch and Apiary. While visiting the ranch, you will learn a bit about pasture-raised meat, free-range animals, pure raw honey and more. Give Dale and Linda a call and set up a tour. It'll be worth it, and they're awesome at dealing with the random questions of those who don't have a clue about farm life.
