PowerPoint 2010 is nearly here!
PowerPoint 2010 is almost here. The latest news we hear is that it will launch in May or June. Are you ready to upgrade?
Most of our clients have yet to upgrade to PowerPoint 2007, have you? We have been using PPT 2007 for a limited number of clients for a few years now. The new "ribbon" interface takes some getting used to, but it does have some nice new enhanced features. The best place to read about these features is the Microsoft website. Click here to see the PPT 2007 feature list.
Unfortunately, the new features did not outweigh the time it took to get used to the new ribbon interface or deal with some of the bugs or incompatibilities of the 1000's of PowerPoint decks our client's already have in PPT 2003. If we took a vote at eSlide, I'd bet PPT 2003 would still win as the preferred program to work in.
That may change with PowerPoint 2010. We've been using the Beta version for a few months now, and the new enhancements will be well worth the switch. The new program does some amazing things with animations and videos. Check out the Top 10 features from Microsoft's PowerPoint Blog: PowerPoint 2010 Top 10 New Features
What are your plans to upgrade?

Knockout Presentations with Diane DiResta
If you're not speaking with power and confidence, you're leaving money on the table. More than ever before, your success today depends on how well you present yourself, your message and your value to the market place. Presentation skills are the new competitive weapon.
The number one mistake most speakers make -- losing focus. We can trace most mistakes to lack of preparation. Too many speakers are simply unprepared. Most speakers have good content but the material doesn't go anywhere. They use a shotgun approach with information going out in all directions, so it doesn't land in the mind of the listeners. Here's the secret to creating focus. Complete this sentence: At the end of the presentation, the audience will ____. The answer to that is your outcome. Do this sentence completion before you begin writing your presentation and nobody will ever say, "What was the point of the speech?" Then build your points around your outcome, and you'll achieve laser-like focus.

eSlide Extreme Makeover This before and after example is really not that extreme, but the changes in layout and color can make a big difference in the readability and more importantly the speed at which your audience will understand the information being presented.
