LEAD San Diego is proud to announce the official appointment of Vicky Carlson to the position of president and CEO. Carlson has served as interim president and CEO of LEAD San Diego since April of this year, after serving on LEAD's board of directors since 2004.
Carlson brings nearly two decades of business experience to LEAD San Diego and was president and owner of Office Pavilion San Diego, a Herman Miller furniture dealership. With a common sense approach to business, she will
undoubtedly take LEAD San Diego to the next level. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Women's Conference at the pleasure of California's First Lady Maria Shriver, and, locally, for Voices for Children, where she will chair the organization's 30-year anniversary celebration.
"Under Vicky Carlson's management, LEAD will continue to educate and empower civic leaders who can understand and respond to ever-changing challenges facing the region," said board chairman Ben Haddad, a partner with California Strategies. "She has served LEAD in many capacities over the last six years, having twice chaired LEAD's annual event, the Visionary Awards, and providing oversight of LEAD's relocation from City Heights to downtown San Diego in early July," he added.

The LEAD San Diego Alumni Association, established in 2009, has seated its council for the 2010-11 program year. Tasked with "connecting, engaging, and educating" LEAD graduates and members, the council creates dynamic programs, networking events, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year aimed at continuing the promise of LEAD. First up for this new council is the annual Investor Celebration, taking place this year at Bali Hai on Shelter Island (see above article for details). Click here to meet the Alumni Association Council.
LEAD would also like to take the opportunity to extend sincere thanks to the dedicated team who launched this Alumni Association. Chaired by Victoria Garrison (99), this committee developed a comprehensive plan for establishing an Association that would "continue the promise of LEAD" after one completes a LEAD program. It is thanks to these individuals that LEAD alumni have access to ongoing dynamic programming, networking opportunities, and the chance to continue down the path of civic and community leadership in the San Diego region.
