Black and Decker's Thermal Leak Detector
What it does: Helps you find air leaks. Leaks around windows and doors, even around electrical outlets or recessed lights, can force your AC or heater to work harder. Point and drag Black and Decker's Thermal Leak Detector around your home; the light changes color when the temperature is significantly higher or lower. Now you'll know where to chalk or weather-strip!

Smart Strip LCG4
What it does: If you use a desktop computer at home, it won't take long until this device is a money saver for you. Simply plug in your main unit into the control outlet and all of your other peripherals (monitor, printer, speakers, etc.) into the other outlets. Whenever you power on your computer, the other devices power on; whenever you power off your computer, the others power off. Even better, it actually functions as a switch, so when your main unit powers off, there is no phantom "standby" electricity being drawn to the other peripherals. Not only will you save money on the powered-down peripherals, but you'll save money from the lack of phantom charge.

Kill A Watt Ez
What it does: Acts as a live-i meter reader, revealing your power usage and costs. A review done by the University of Oxford says that people who monitored their usage changed consumption habits and reduced energy bills by 5% to 15%!
Plug any appliance into Kill A Watt Ez then plug into the wall.

HYmini
The HYmini may look like just a fan but it's actually a universal charger powered by the wind and sun. The lightweight device captures energy from winds of up to 40 miles per hour. (It needs wind speed of at least nine mph to activate the fan.) Take it biking, jogging, driving or just walking on a breezy day, and in 20 minutes you get enough juice for half an hour of playtime on your iPod, 40 minutes of PDA use or four minutes of cellphone talk time, according to the company's tests.

How to Save Money and have an Energy Efficient Summer |
Save Money and Stay Cool this Summer While Saving Energy
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, almost 45% of homeowner's utility bills increase during the summer months. Secretary of Energy, Sam Bodman states, "By taking a few simple steps, Americans can make their homes more energy efficient and can save a significant amount of time and money."
By following a few easy, common sense guidelines, properly maintaining or upgrading your air conditioner, adding insulation and taking other easy energy-saving measures, you can cut your energy bills by 10 to 50 percent.
Use Air Conditioning and Fans Wisely
- Open windows and use ceiling fans on cooler days.
- Use your ceiling fan in addition to your air conditioner to help spread the cool air throughout your house.
- Don't place lamps, TVs', or other electrical appliances by your thermostat. The heat from these appliances will cause the air conditioner to run longer.
- Use a programmable thermostat with your air conditioner to adjust the setting to warmer at night or when no one is at home.
Low Cost Tips to Save Energy
- Air dry dishes instead of using your dish washer's dry cycle.
- Turn off your computer and monitor when it's not in use.
- Plug electronics into power strips and turn power strips off when equipment is not in use.
- Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes and dry your laundry outside when possible.
Landscape for Energy Efficiency
- Plant trees and shrubs around to shade your outdoor air conditioning units but be careful to not block the airflow to the unit. An air conditioner compressor operating in the shade uses less electricity.
- Avoid landscaping with lots of unshaded rock or cement on the South and West sides of your home. The increased temperature from the rocks / cement can cause the temperature to rise around the house and radiates heat into the house even after the sun has set.
- Just three trees planted properly and placed around a house can save between $100 - $250 annually in heating and cooling costs. Daytime air temperatures can be 3 - 6 degrees cooler in tree - shaded neighborhoods.
Shade Your Windows
- Sunny windows can make your air conditioner work two to three times harder. Install window shades, drapes, or blinds to reflect heat away from the house. Close curtains on the South and West facing sides of your home during the day.
- If you want to replace your windows, consider the new double-pane windows with spectrally selective coatings.
Weatherize
- Air leaks can waste energy dollars throughout the year - including the summer months. Add insulation around air conditioner ducts when they are located in un-air conditioned spaces such as attics, crawl spaces, and garages.

Summer Fishing Tips from our Friends at ANGLERS ALL |
Tips to for Better Trout Fishing this Summer in Colorado's Beautiful Lakes
ANGLERS ALL talks about fishing during run off. This is the perfect time to discover how much fun it is to explore our local lakes. Anglers have discovered that lakes grow...much bigger trout.
At the time of year that pond and reservoir fishing is really turning on, most of our rivers are muddy with run-off. Lake fishing offers an alternative to the high water conditions we have during big snow pack years. Float tubes, pontoon boats, and specialized still water fly lines have made lakes more accessible. Anglers have discovered that lakes have better conditions in June and smaller crowds...this is a 'no brainer'!
The three keys to success are: line choice, fly pattern, and presentation.
Line Choice Trout in rivers do most of their feeding on the surface, near the surface, or near the bottom. Because lakes have water temperature (and oxygen) fluctuations at various levels, the most key factor is in finding the correct depth to fish at and staying there. Proper line choice is crucial and the modern fly line choices can make all the difference in accessing the fish. An intermediate sink tip line--one that sinks very slowly--is the right choice 80% of the time. Because it sinks slowly, it will hold you at the right depth longer than other lines.
Fly Pattern Trout feed opportunistically in lakes, but in rivers they are more selective. Big aggressive trout that live in lakes are not fussy eaters (that's how they got so big, they eat anything in front of their faces!) Most of the time, at a lake, if you're not catching fish it's because you're at the wrong place or at the wrong depth. We choose flies because they fish right, or move like the natural prey that these huge trout feed on.
Presentation
In lakes, most flies are presented below the surface and moving. The anglers must figure out how to fish them, in other words, how to give them a life-like action that triggers a response from the trout. The key is to vary the action of the fly through; big slower pulls with no pause between pulls; big quick pulls with pauses between some of the pulls; short fast pulls with no pauses; short fast pulls with pauses between pulls. Tiny 'hand-twist' or figure 'eight retrieves' give tons of action, but keep the fly moving super s l o w l y ! If you're not catching fish and you are in the right place, it's probably because you're either fishing at the wrong depth or using the wrong retrieve..it's not because you've got the wrong fly.
C'mon down to Anglers All to check out our float tubes, lake fly lines, huge selection of stillwater fly patterns, awesome DVD's, instructional books, and all the accessories to make you successful...plus decades of personal advise, tips and tricks!
