Independence Day Parade
July 4, 2010
Line-up at 7:00 p.m. Parade starts 8:00 p.m.
Fireworks at dusk.

Sault Ste Marie, MI June 23, 2010--As Independence Day quickly approaches the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce would like to invite everyone out for an evening of fun, friends, and family.

On Sunday, July 4th the annual Parade and fireworks will be taking place in downtown Sault Ste. Marie. Line-up begins at 7 p.m. on Davitt Street behind the Kmart. The parade will begin promptly at 8 p.m. turning east onto Ashmun from 14th Avenue. The parade will travel down Ashmun Street before turning west onto Portage Avenue and will finish at Magazine Street.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the parade. There is no cost to be involved.  This is a great way for local groups, organizations and businesses to showcase themselves to the community.  Those interested in submitting an entry should register with the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce. Click here for registration forms. Or you may pick up a form at our office located at 2581 I-75 Business Spur.  Forms can also be emailed or faxed with quick and easy phone call to the Chamber Office.

Spectators can assemble along the parade route. The best seats in the house will be found down Ashmun and along Portage. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and get there early to get a front row seat to the excitement.

After the parade, don't forget the 4th of July fireworks which will commence following the parade at dusk. However, do keep in mind the current construction in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.  Those who typically view the fireworks from Brady Park should be aware that Water Street is under construction and you may need to make parking and transportation adjustments.   Public safety officials will have construction areas clearly identified, with your safety in mind. Please stay clear of all construction zones.

If you are looking for a special way to celebrate the holiday, check out the Soo Locks Boat Tours Fireworks Cruise. On July 1st (Canadian fireworks) and 4th (American Fireworks) take an hour cruise down the river and experience the fireworks on the water. The cruise will depart from dock #2 at 9:15pm.

All questions can be directed towards the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce. Feel free to stop in to the Chamber office, call (906-632-3301), or email inquiries to info@saultstemarie.org.
