Chamber Building

The Chamber's new website is live!

Check out www.saultstemarie.org to see our new site.  We are delighted to have a better avenue in which to promote both our community and our members.  Please take a few moments to look at the site and provide us with your feedback.  As with all new things, there may be some glitches along the way.  Let us know if you see anything inaccurate or not working...we'll get it fixed promptly.

The Chamber's partnership with our web development team also provides the Chamber and our members visibility on the travelnorth.org website.  This site actively promotes tourism opportunities in northern Michigan and will complement tourism efforts of the Sault CVB.

Thank you to our sponsors, who supported the development of this site.  It would not have happened without your support!

Pure Michigan
A message from the Michigan Lodging & Tourism Association...

As the summer season winds down, MLTA has prepared an easy way for every lodging and tourism business owner/operator in the state to help us pass the Pure Michigan Funding Package.  Included below is a link to a Microsoft Word Document Letter of Support

Simply download the letter, format it to fit your stationary and mail it to your Representative and your Senator, and importantly, provide MLTA a carbon copy. MLTA will batch all letters received and use in our next press release to help pass this all-important legislation.

In 2005, a similar letter-writing campaign was the single-most effective thing our industry did to help pass Post Labor Day Schools.  Back then we received hundreds of letters from golf courses, hotels, campgrounds, ski resorts and other industry segments which were incredibly persuasive to Michigan Legislators.

However, we'll need far more letters from every single segment of Michigan tourism to enable us to win this fight.  Best of all it only takes a few moments to make it happen!

1.  Download the Letter of Support by clicking here

2.  Insert Jason Allen and Gary McDowell's name into the text of your letter and mail to:
The Honorable Gary McDowell
Michigan House of Representatives
P.O. Box 30014
Lansing, MI 48909

The Honorable Jason Allen
Michigan State Senate
P.O. Box 30036
Lansing, MI 48909

3.  Mail, fax, or email copies of both of your property's letters to:
    Michigan Lodging & Tourism Association
        3815 W. St Joseph Hwy. Suite A200
        Lansing, MI 48917
        FAX: (517) 267-8990
        EMAIL - stevey@milodging.org

4..  Encourage all industry friends, CVBs, trade associations and regional chambers to get involved and send letters in on their stationary too!  The state of Michigan is facing a $3 billion budget deficit.  We must reassure legislators that investing in Michigan's third largest industry is the safest means to jumpstart our economy.  To do that, all industry segments and businesses must get involved.  Don't delay - download and mail your letters today!

Ribbon Cutting

American Century

The  Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors have been busy with ribbon cutting events this past month.  We've helped to celebrate the grand opening of the River of History Museum, the ground breaking of War Memorial Hospital's new medical building, ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Heritage Building, Maple Ridge Cemetary, Soo Boat Works and the Academy of Performing Arts.

Congratulations to all!
