2011 Women's Entrepreneurial Symposium Set for March 8
E-Magnify will host it's annual Women's Entrepreneurial Symposium, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Seton Hill University's Performing Arts Center, in Greensburg. The women's business center has teamed up with Program Partner, The Status of Women in Westmoreland County, for this year's event - Impacting Commerce and Community.
The symposium will feature a keynote address - "Add Women, Change Everything" -- by Marie C. Wilson, president and founder of The White House Project. Under Wilson's stewardship, The White House Project has been a pioneer in advancing women's leadership in every sphere-political and social, cultural and economic. Wilson is creator of Take Our Daughters to Work ® Day and author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World (Viking 2004),
The agenda will be rounded out with concurrent sessions including "Ten Million Strong and Voting - Business Women Taking the Lead in the Recovery," presented by Marilyn Landis President of Basic Business Concepts, Inc. and chair of the National Association of Small Businesses; and "A Key Connection: Status of Women Impacts Our Community and Commerce," presented by members of the Status of Women in Westmoreland County Project Team.

Westmoreland County Winners' Circle Awards Program Now Accepting Nominations
The Westmoreland County Winners' Circle Awards Program is calling for nominations for four awards that recognize women, men, businesses or organizations who inspire others and advocate for women, women-owned business and our community. Winners' Circle awards include the prestigious ATHENA Award®, the Seton Hill University Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, the Award for Community Service and the YWCA Rising Star Award.
Now in its 16th year, the Winners' Circle Awards Program is Westmoreland County's most prestigious business awards program. This program, presented by E-Magnify and underwritten by First Commonwealth, began in 1995 to recognize and celebrate those who advance women as leaders and community activists in order to motivate, inspire and mentor women to assume leadership roles throughout Westmoreland County. Winners will be honored at an awards luncheon on Thursday, May 19 at the Four Points by Sheraton in Greensburg.

The ATHENAPowerLink® program of Mercer/Lawrence County invites local women business owners to apply for the opportunity to receive one year of free business counsel. Applications will be accepted until February 27. The ATHENAPowerLink® is a mentoring program that connects a woman business owner with a volunteer panel of advisors who provide free advice to help her grow her company and improve its operations. A very popular initiative that in just three-and-a-half years has provided more than $560 million in loan guarantees to nearly 7,000 veterans to start or expand their small businesses is being renewed for three more years.
