The BACH Remedies

Many of you are already aware of Rescue Remedy created by Dr. Bach(Batch) to help with stressful or emergency situations with our pets.  But, did you know that there are 38 total essences?  Each essence is a flower or tree essence uniquely chosen to help with emotional disruptions in ourselves and our pets.

If your pet has been showing signs of a negative emotional condition, and you have tried Rescue Remedy with no change in behavior, it may be time to seek a solution with the other 33 essences.

Rescue Remedy is a combination of 5 essences-Star of Bethlehem, Rock Rose, Cherry Plum, Impatiens and Clematis.  It is great to keep handy for emergencies.  For instance, if your pet acts out because of visitors in the house, is suffering from a terminal illness, goes into shock because of a physical accident or condition like epilepsy, or is on the verge of heat distress, to name a few.

Yet, Rescue Remedy may not be helpful with other emotional upsets your pet may be displaying.  For instance, Aspen is used to help with fears of the unknown-maybe your pet starts to pant, whine, or becomes panicky for no apparent reason.  Mimulus is used for fears of known origin- like thunderstorms.  Chicory is helpful for pets with a possessive or selfish nature- always demanding attention, especially if anyone else enters the room.  Mustard is for unexplained depression.

Dosage: The correct dosage for any remedy no matter what size of animal is 4 drops, 4 times per day until the unwanted behavior subsides.  This could take an hour, a day or several weeks.  Don't give up on the remedy and don't expect the behavior to be corrected in one dosage.
  • 7 essences can be mixed together in one remedy, if necessary;
  • Can't overdose with the essences
  • Can use them in food, water, mist in the air;
  • There are no contraindications
  • The human may benefit the animal by treating themselves with a particular essence as well
How the flower essences work:  Dr. Bach, being a medical doctor, discovered the flower essences in his search for a more natural approach to healing people and animals.  It works similarly to homeopathy but extends to an intensive understanding of human ( and animals') nature.  He wanted to offer his patients a treatment for the real root cause of the problems and prevent ill health by treating mental disharmony at its earliest stages (we are what we think).   In 1930 and during the course of the next 6 years he finalized a complete system of medicine(essences) specifically intended to relieve emotional suffering and restore harmony and happiness to the personality.

The 38 remedies are divided under seven emotional categories: Fear, Uncertainty, Insufficient interest in present circumstances, Loneliness, Oversensitivity to influences and ideas, Despondency or despair and Overcare for the Welfare of others.

Should your pet be displaying an emotional behavior that you would like to restore to balance, Carol's Pet Cafe has all the Bach Flower Essences.  We can discuss together what would work best based on the personality of your pet, the symptoms he/she is displaying, and any recent events that may have caused the emotional upset.

The remedies are mixed onsite specifically for your pet and his/her individual characteristics.  The cost varies based on the number of essences used per remedy.  The basic cost for a remedy is $2 per essence($4 for Rescue Remedy) and $5 for other materials and assimilation of the ingredients.

If you would like to explore a natural approach to healing unwanted emotional behaviors before they manifest into physical ailments, please contact me for more information.

I wish for you a wonderful, long, and healthy future with your furry being.

To your Pet's Health!!!

Lilly, Bozworth
