Prayer Requests

June 2011

Dear Prayer Partner,

Continuing with the acronym from last month, ACTS, which is a method I use in my prayer time.  Last month, it was A, Adoration or Praise to God.  This month it is C, which stands for confession.  There must be nothing in the way of our communication with God as unconfessed sin will inhibit our fellowship with God the Father.

Here are some verses relating to confession:
  •  Dan. 9:4-5,20-Daniel is confessing the sins of Israel, but as we read in verse 20, "Now while I [was] speaking, praying, and confessing my sin..." he, also, was confessing his sin.  He just didn't confess the sin of his people, but his own sin.  Ask the Holy Spirit to examine your life and bring anything to the surface that you need to confess.
  • I John 1:9-10-We must confess our sin before the Almighty.  We must be specific about our sin and let Him know that we have committed iniquity and seek forgiveness.  The amazing aspect is He forgets our sin and never brings it up again, which is unlike us.
  • James 5:16-Sometimes our sins (faults) must be confessed one to another, but look at the rest of the verse, "...and pray one for another, that ye may be healed..."  Not necessarily healed from a physical sickness, although that may be the case, but to be made whole again in the case of errors/sins.  It is hard to confess our sin to one another, but sometimes that may need to be done, but we need to "pray one for another" as a part of that confession.
Confession is a vital part of our communication with God.  He knows when we mess up, but desires to hear it from us.  Free yourself and confess it to God.  If you desire more  verses, send me an email at merv.wagner@brookesbible.com.

If you have prayer requests that you would like to share with me, send them to the above email and I will join in prayer with you.  Next month, the letter is T.

A Blessed and safe day to all of you. Thank you again for your prayers for Brookes.  May you "pray without ceasing" in 2011.

Prayer and Praises
 Praise
 1.   For answered prayer in small details as well as the large items.

 2.  For the volunteers we have--Ruth with recruitment, Sue in the library, Chris S. and Chris C. with help on the first annual golf tournament in October.

3.  For the alumni committee as the details for the open house on July 9 are coming together.

 4.  Again, there was no damage to the buildings during the recent storm
s.  A funnel cloud was spotted two miles from school.

 5.  For our graduates as we celebrate their accomplishment with them.

Prayer

1.  As it has been a long year, that the students, for finals and term papers, and faculty, for subjects to be properly covered, would end the Academic Year on a strong note.

Group prayer in Spain

3.  For the Alumni committee and Kathleen, our librarian, as they prepare for the  upcoming book sale and open house/barbecue on July 9.  Details to be sent.

4.  The staff as we are preparing now for the ABHE team visit in Fall 2012 as we seek 'Candidate' status with them.

5.  For the IFCA annual conference, the last week in June, as Ben Olson will be attending to set up a table for Brookes.  Safe travels for Ben and his family, as well as being able to have ample opportunity to talk about Brookes with parents, pastors,  prospective students, and other interested parties.

6.  For Christians to spend time in prayer so they and other believers can be more bold in our witness for Jesus Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to be a prayer partner with Brookes Bible Institute.  1 Thess, 5:17, "Pray without ceasing."
