Prayer Requests

May  2011

Dear Prayer Partner,

I would like to share with you how I pray.  I have a format I use so I can stay on track during my morning prayer time.  I use an acronym of four letters, ACTS.  I will take one letter a month for this month and the next three months.  The first letter is Adoration or Praise to God.

I do this by quoting scripture, which describe some of God's attributes:
  • Creator.  Gen. 1:1,"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.", John 1:1-3; Acts 14:15
  • Savior.  Romans 5:7-9; I Cor. 15:3-4; Romans 4:23-25
  • Provider. Matthew 6:25-34; James 4:2-3 Matt. 6:25-34 is one of my favorite passages, especially the part about worry.
  • Conqueror. Rev. 19:11-16; II Timothy 4:6-8  Revelation 19:11starts out with "Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse.. . ."  I can see heaven opened and the white horse with Christ on it.  What a great picture for us--assurance that Christ will return.
  • Director. This is one of my favorite passages, especially since I have memorized the last three verses as most people have only learned 5 and 6.  Memorize 7-9.  Prov. 3:5-9
There are many others that I'm sure you can locate.  If you desire more attributes and verses, send me an email at merv.wagner@brookesbible.com.  If some of you worry like I do sometimes, start a worry list and pray through the worry list during your prayer time and commit them to our Father.  I will have another letter for you next month.

A Blessed and safe day to all of you. Thank you again for your prayers for Brookes.  May you "pray without ceasing" in 2011.
